Looks like the '23 Colorado beats its EPA rating on Fuelly (20.3 MPG for the 2.7l last year), so that might be the truck with the most range of these three. Certainly not a major factor, but it becomes part of the decision tree for some I suppose.

Willing to bet most will slap on 33s, and many will squeeze 35s. ARB booth at Sema already shown one with 35s so it will be easy with a modest lift, mpgs will suffer.

This thing is not getting anywhere close to the mpgs Toyota has listed. IMG_4632.jpg

Fairly happy with my range, currently around 380 miles, fill up when the gas light comes on, usually takes 18.1 gallons. Snow tires on now 265/70/16, summer run Yokohama G015 265/75/16. Both SL rated.

This picture was was taken this morning, the 23.7 number is when I had the stock 245/75/16 P rated tires on, that was doing highway miles at 65 mph, no load.

    IMG_4243.jpg

The 4th Gen mileage isn’t any better than the 3rd, smaller tank is definitely going backwards. And cost more…so I guess that is a plus, errrr wait a minute.

mpg figure starts around the 12:20 minute mark.

I bet that truck in the photo only gets around 14-15 mpgs with those mud tires and all that crap bolted to the bed. Stopping for gas every 200 miles sounds fun.

This was posted on the tundra forum in one of the engine failure threads. Hope it’s not related to the bearing issue in the 22’s and 23’s as I’m getting a tundra next.

I had a dealer send me a quote for a 2024 4Runner Pro. With tax it was $70,000.

Imagine what these greedy fuckin dealers are going to want for a Trailhunter.

What the hell is going on with those engines? The excuse that metal shavings from manufacturing was left in the engine blocks can’t still be true. It has got to be an oil starvation issue to those bearings.

That’s nuts. A TH with all those accessories bolted on will probably be $80-90K.

If you find a light AT tire it should not suffer as much

I run a light AT, and drive like an old man, 19-21, no load. Loaded 15-18 (near max payload, most overland bros go waaay over) Since the mpgs didn’t change all that much on the 4G, can’t imagine it being any different.

I bet they are going to arrive at the dealers with most of that stuff already installed either from the factory or distributor.

I think this 2024 is a fluke (knocks on wood) as not many 2023’s have had the bearing issue. Well, at least when you look at the tundra forum and FB group not many 2023’s have. Not really a large data sample, but it’s all we have to go off of.

I was offered $10k off a 2024 Capstone and $5k off a limited just today from the same dealer so the market is really cooling for the Tundra. However, I’m tempted to wait for the 2025’s to hit to see if they get any of the new Tacomas goodies.

people build out overhanging rigs for way over that. Toyota is hoping they can serve those people direct from the factory/dealer. The trail hunter, like the pro is for a certain target. The user and the poser with deep pockets. The other models are for the rest.

220K+ Tundras sold and there are what seems like a lot of engine failures posted on a very vocal forum. Only 20K Sequoia and 10K LX600s sold but zero engine failures I could find.

More importantly, when my eight year old 1990 4Runner 3.0 with 96,000 miles blew a head gasket, Toyota replaced the (warped) short block for free. That same year my wife's two year old Dodge Grand Caravan with 37,000 miles needed a new transmission. Dodge said "Sorry, you're out of warranty". Been driving Toyotas exclusively ever since. 1993 Sienna went 120K with zero problems, 2001 Tundra went 125K with zero problems, 2003 Sequoia with 130K went to the shop twice (warranty) for ABS light problems. Current 2014 4Runner with 130K miles - had to replace the seat heater buttons twice (one L, one R). There was a lot of coffee on those switches. The Corollas/Camry/Matrix/RAV4 I bought for my sons/daughters are/were trouble free. Toyotas may not be perfect but I've been happy with them so far. Nothing I have seen/heard so far about the Tundras/Tacomas has changed my mind.

Not as many 2023's have reached the optimal mileage for failure yet so IMO the jury is still out until probably mid or the end of 2024. At least one early 2023 has had its bearing fail in the same way and that was an early build.

That's insane. We just picked up a Colorado Z71 at sticker...which is still crazy to me. But, looks like leases are starting to come down so maybe this car market will get back to some sort of normal.

How many of those problem free vehicles you owned had a small turbo engine trying to make big engine power?

That’s pretty much guaranteed in the Gulf States region.
