Riding the line of "is that insured or not?" Is my truck to a T right now
Let your bronco be the pretty one. I look at all the scars on my truck, each a story, each a memory, some good and some bad. Not interested in losing that.

Or is the sum of it's parts better than the original? haha That's what I told myself. Mostly was true, in the right circumstances.

and that's literally what I did was go back to my build

Speaking of "its parts" I'm surprised you needing a wheel bearing hasn't cost Frank one of his spindles haha

Yeah you'd think that would be the way to go. However, Igor has spindle gussets and Frank's are still naked for now. So I'd like to keep the gusseted spindle. Otherwise yeah it's just still over in the garage haha

I mean the Bronco I am def going to try to keep as the pretty one, but I already got some tube to make some legit sliders on it. I want to take it into some technical rocky stuff to learn it's wheel base and limits.

On the bright side, from far away and good photo editing the shitbox looks aight. :p

It's all the little rust spots I see when I get close that really nag me.

Ha I'm not going to buy a truck with 35's and lockers and not use it :p besides I need to learn it's limits so if I take the family wheeling in Moab or CO I'll be able to more confidently choose my line.

Finding the limits of the cam phasers is more likely?

JK I actually think the Bronco is super neat.

Oof. I think the bronco turned out to be really cool and a nice medium ground for street comfort and off-road capability. In many ways they followed the footsteps of first gen Tacomas in that regard, IFS, rear locker and not trying to copy the Jeeps. I just wish they were like 5-10% smaller.

And as devils advocate we are over her exploring the limits of our lower ball joints and rusty frames lol

And they can explore their waterpump bearings/seals and tie rods too. Cam phasers will fail no doubt about it on a Ford, but who cares that's normal ford ownership and they're a couple hundo to repair. But when that ecoboost water pump dumps coolant into the oil, that's a bad day. If it's the 4 banger though, no problem there.

They can be if you get the 2 door. It's funny you say that they aren't trying to copy jeeps because so much is similar that it basically feels like an IFS jeep. There is so many similarities in the tops/cage/interior layout. But I agree I think they nailed the best you can get for offroad capability from the factory.

Thankfully my Wildtrak's got Braptor tie rods. I'm going to ignore the engine stuff you mentioned :lalala:

Spent most of my morning researching what's needed to to install a hidden winch. Lot's of shit in the way with the intercooler and oil cooler.

    Truck stuff:

Do you think it's all from your feet or did it get trapped behind your sealer somehow?

I think that peeled back piece of metal is a potentially a piece that was never sealed too well and it came in that way. That was a welded piece that peeled right off.

Decided it was time for another refresh and knocked out all of the below over Christmas PTO:
    • CV axle reboot kit on one side that had a tear (had one oem kit on shelf as backup-thank god as the new kits I ordered in September are STILL on back order) Can never have too many.
    • replaced side mirrors (went from chrome to black since I hate chrome)
    • replaced all exterior window trim as it was looking old and worn
    • new lower ball joints (upper ball joints were replaced last year along with tie rods)
    • removed overload leaf from OME kit to eliminate the rake and replaced spring aligner bushings. (kings all the way around will be rebuilt over the summer)
    • greased shackles
    • replaced brake pads front (has the tundra upgrade up front)
    • axel was leaking on rear brakes so replaced axle shaft oil seals
    • rear brakes replaced including new shoes, cylinders, and drums (resurfaced the drums)
    • 100% fresh fluids throughout the truck including brake fluid flush, power steering flush, oil and filter, transmission fluid and filter, front and rear differentials and transfer case (drain and refill), drain and refill coolant
    • new spark plugs and wires
    • replaced timing belt/water pump, thermostat, ac belt, alternator belt, power steering belt, camshaft seal, etc (full kit from cabin airman)
    • cleaned throttle body and mass air flow
    • new fuel filter
    • replaced upstream and downstream Oxygen sensors (pain in the ass getting the rusted retaining nuts off)
    • new exhaust gasket (behind the Cat)
    • replaced the battery and cable ends
    • replaced a bulb for rear license plate
    • lubricated propeller shaft, retorque propeller shaft bolt
    • fluid filmed the truck for rust prevention
    • checked steering gearbox, brake lines, vacuum hoses, steering rack, U Joints, Rack & Pinion, (all good)
I am sure there are other things I am missing/forgetting but the bottom line is this truck should be good to roll for a while.

Grabbed a softopper off OfferUp. Said it was for a 3rd gen but almost certain it was a 1st or 2nd gen. Anyways fits pretty well. Just need some snap closure buttons and that seal tape, going to try a fabric store tomorrow.
Also finally got the rear view camera wired in.
