Bullies? I just think that not many people actually care about mixing fuel grades and what some random tacoma driver gets for mpg in an unknown environment

Direct Injection is the main reason for them to be able to do this. They are only compressing air then injecting fuel right before ignition. DI opens up a whole new world in total engine design and tuning that I don't even try to follow anymore.

Your 6 gallon test is really nothing to get excited about yet. You need to continue with multiple full tank test to really see if there is an improvement.

I just read in Toyota website that 26-30 highway for the 2023 3.5l is the number. So I got 26. But that’s not what this is about!!!!
lol. I’m getting this because the auto trans is not gear hunting any longer and the engine is running smother since I dump 93 with my 87 1/2 tank. My engine hesitated/stumbled and sounds like detonation at low rpm in 4th.
It all stopped when I jammed in a1/2 tank of 93 and as a result my mileage increased.
That my v6 in my 2023 maybe my flash is different but that’s my findings. Just seeing if others are having this issue. I found one other so far that has to run 89 or 91 or he has the same issue. I’m just trying to be helpful.

How about posting a link to this “Toyota”website that claims 26-30 MPG? You found “one” other that has to run 89-91?
FYI- when you ignore all other evidence/experience, yet keep searching till you find the “one” other that matches your claims= confirmation bias.

Wow? Really. Come over and drive my particular vehicle with 87 and then 91 and then tell me the differences. I mentioned what’s happening and all the closed minds start chirping. I hope I at least help one other person with the same issue that I was having. No wonder most or some owners just get the OTT. Ever wonder?

All everyone sees here is the MPG’s.
My improved MPG’s are the result of
Adding higher octane to my tank.
    It’s the RESULT!!!!

my 2023 v6 hesitated stumbles and gear hunts on 87. It all stopped when I dumped a 9 gallons in of 93 on the remaining 8 gallons of 87

Engine now smooth and holds gear.
Come visit and see. I ain’t selling anything and I’m not here trolling. I’m a new owner of the TACOMA. I’ve own both 2017/2020 4Runners
They got 17-19. Maybe 21 baby pedal and a tail wind. So I’m freaking impressed that my Tacoma now gets 26 (based on a 148 mile in town and 50-55 mix driving)while before it knocked hesitated and ran shitty and gear hunted and babying the pedal I got 22.
I have the firestone factory highway tires 31 psi and it’s a 4x4 SR5. These tires alone probably help mpgs but for Fack sake…..
I’m talking about smoothing the engine out from before of being rattle bag to smooth and the result is obviously better mpgs.

Adding roughly 50% 93 octane gas isnt going to boost you like you think. After all its 50% diluted with the 87. And you're claiming in town and highway mileage?? I dont buy it sorry dude.

Well yeah, you were doing 55 on the highway. I could get that kind of gas mileage too if I wanted to get run off the road, and never hit a single incline.

Fack sakes!!!! It’s not not about the MPG’s.
Engine ran like a rattling bag of crap. Couldn’t hold gear so it hunted.

I’ve realized that I’m in the wrong place. I was just trying to share my findings with others that might notice their 3.5l v6 is a rattle bag of shit at low rpms and gear hunting.

Just a lot of chirping in here. SAD forum for this topic.

When are you going to change your oil? What are your feelings on the steering wheel volume controls? Do you like spacer lifts?

I’ve done some cool mods. Nothing huge.
    -LED lights in the bed
    -Toyota's bed mat
    -Tiger T1 Tonneau cover
-LED strip under the tail gate (brakes/turn/reverse)
    -cup holder
    - Faux Leather Seat covers!!! Was my favorite!

dang I need to change this topic as it wasn’t about mpg. Seems that’s all people see is the headlines. Lol

Then there is something wrong with your engine; mine runs great on 87 AKI fuel.
Regarding the "chirping", apparently you bring that out wherever you post, maybe you should look in the mirror when you're trying to figure out why you get so much flack when you post.

Boom. I have shoulders. I’m not the best at expressing over txting/typing/messaging
If you actually met me you think differently.
But I made huge error in the Topic line and my opening OP. I just left Facebook and no one from here was following my posts from there.
I should have explained the OP (it was in my mind and I didn’t type it out). Huge mistake. I now changed the headline and I added the rattle/gear hunting. I was also a little pissed as I was called a punk by a forum member. Lol nice lol. Nonetheless, I was trying to help others and apparently or did come off like a douche bag, but after I was attacked, so I pulled out my guns. Lol :transformer:

and you were the one that called me a punk lol
Do you have a license for that? Asking for a friend. lol nonetheless…. After a while you warmed up a bit. Thank you for that and it set off a frenzy of Punk gifs. lol. I’m 22 years retired military Comms/Electronics/Intel 8 years math prof but now I’m just a musician and a musical instrument builder/repair facility. I also Kiteboard. I switched from building ice to lithium electric propulsion and building battery packs as I enjoy the torque of electric motors. Thank you for continuing to chime in with your replies. I thought you were a douche after calling me a punk lol but I didn’t hold it against you as I thought you missed out on some mirror time …… boom. lol
    Nice to meet you Dale
