If you’re thinking of installing a dual battery system and it’s not leaking, you could save some money by using your old still good battery as the second one.

I’m at 60k miles, original battery. Cranks over just fine. I did not get it tested, ever.

We are expecting -20C next week so we will see how she does.

I'm still running my original battery in my 2017 Tacoma with 31000 miles. Ill probably swap mine out soon before the inevitable happens.

    Replaced the battery this summer.
Wasn't running any other devices and was almost always parked in a garage.

If you are hearing it in the crank speed, you are on borrowed battery time. I do 4 year cycles and replace it regardless. Extreme heat and cold are big factors on battery life.

Toyota batteries are hit or miss. My battery that came from the factory had a bad cell at 33 months. Toyota replaced it free. My replacement Toyota battery is over 5 years old and starts with no hesitation. I know I am on borrowed time so I always have my jump box in my truck.

Waiting til it's dead is false economy to me. I just get a fresh on every 5 years and install it on a nice day I find convenient. Better than having to do it at -20 in the snow and stores haven't opened yet or will be closing in a few minutes.

-20 degrees in the snow, or that plus hoping the battery boost will bring the dead battery to life enough at 2 AM at a freeway rest stop on a Sunday 20 miles from the nearest civilization.

“Everstart “MAXX” batteries from Walmart. Dont go cheap with their lower value battery options

Walmart has multiple locations with 24 hr location.
    3 year free replacement warranty.
Receipt is not needed for replacement.

I also carry around a hulkman 85 jump starter.

    Interesting test video. https://youtu.be/h7rTcBanpMk

Amen brother! I just don't understand people who tempt fate on a daily basis with old batteries? But hey, those Triple-A folks need to eat too.

The battery on mine failed a few days ago. Less than 25k miles on a 2020. I admit that I did not maintain the battery properly. I replaced it when it failed to start my truck twice.

I'm still on my original battery in my 2018 OR. 31.5K on the odometer. Still turns over energetically, even when sitting over a day in the cold. I've seen the battery get down to 12.1 resting voltage at times. I have a jump box in my 'Taco too. I may replace the battery sometime this winter, but it just does not seem frugal to do. I like to get full service life out of it if possible.

I'm going to check mine with a multimeter to see how much the voltage drops when I turn it over. Thanks!

Change the battery in your garage, or a jump start in a parking lot at night in a snow/rain storm when you’re in a hurry.

Have around 28,500 miles on my 2020 that I picked up in October 2019. No issues yet but coming up on 4 1/2 years old this thread reminded me I should hook it up to a battery tester for peace of mind..

Battery 1 made it 2 years in my 2011. battery 2 it still working fine at 150+K I'm in Maine yeah it gets cold and I plow with the truck yes it has a pretty hefty plow lift motor to add to the fun. Still showing no signs of getting weak. Pretty much every battery sold is rebranded so you really have no ideal who really made it. The only thing I can tell you is to pick them up, buy the battery that weights the most to fit your needs. Cheap batteries tend to have less plates and will be lighter.

With winter coming on, I just played it safe and stuck an Interstate battery under the hood. The old one was original, and still performed...but I wanted to be 100% confident, instead of crossing my fingers. I've always had good luck with Interstate.

I already replaced my 2020 OEM battery. Died right at 4 years old.

I got 6 years, literally the 1st cold day it died. Was able to boost, but decided it was time.
