Absolutely thrashed my 8112/7100 combo over the weekend & wow what an upgrade. Couldn’t be happier with the performance & comfort of these 8112’s up front

I’m thinking about pulling the trigger on the 8112 front coil overs. I’m going to order the rears at a later date but not right away. I have 5125s in rear currently with icon 3 leaf progressive aal but plan to go up to the deaver or icon rxt soon. My question is would the 5125s work well with the 8112s until I can upgrade the rears?

That depends on your definition of "well". Will they function fine, yes.

Yeah that’s what I meant. I imagine they’ll function exactly the way they’re functioning currently after thinking about what I asked lol. The question should’ve been are the 8100 rears long enough for rxt leaf pack? 5125s that I currently have to my understanding are the extended travel and are longer than the 5160s and 5100s. What is the difference in 7100s and 5125s? Are either an advantage over the other when running 8112s in front? Basically I want to have a matching setup after all said and done and keep my 2.2ish” of lift up front that I currently have with 6112s and 600lb spring(I plan to add an aluminum or hybrid bumper in future) and keep my 1.5” in the rear without fear of messing up a shock or sagging when add armor. Apologize for the long winded message this is just a big purchase and I want to get it right

7100 14” short bodies for most travel
8100 10” stock travel for simplest install
9200 12” bypass if you want to spend lots of money but just go SUA at this point

^^^^^^ perfect summary of advice. Not sure you can get more travel than 14” short body 7100’s (with the BAMF towers anyway). Remember too that poly shackle bushings probably required to utilize full droop also

Does anyone run the smooth body 8100’s? Should have a set tomorrow for install to replace the 5125’s. Hoping the extended length is just a misprint and they are the same length as the bypass 8100’s

Buy them from wheel every weekend and reach out to them with any questions! They have been incredibly nice and helpful to me with anything like that. Seriously they are wonderful to work with

I've picked through this thread pretty far back, but was curious if anyone has done a detailed comparison against a set of tuned Kings or Fox shocks?

IE, you had one and switched to the other.
Or, you have a friend with a set of Kings/Fox's and you have the Bilstein 8112 Zone Control shocks.

For all I know, maybe both can tackle the same stuff and it's just a matter of degressive feel vs progressive feel but...I don't have much to compare to so had to ask.

    Thanks!

How did the "smooth" 8100's work out? I'm trying to find some feedback on these vs the bypass version, which is probably overkill for my application.

they were awesome, but ended up being too short for what I was wanting. I ended up selling them and going to a 14” 7100 with the archive towers (not installed just yet)

For those of you running the 8112, was there a "break-in" period? Did they get a little softer/smoother after some miles?

A bypass shock like the 8112 if used for street use can put the shock in its non bypass range area of travel, making for not as nice a ride. Off road these are great

Anyone done a rebuild on these? My front 8112’s still look great. But My rears 8100’s look like a got them out of the ocean. Tried everything and wash my truck a ton. I am pretty ocd, did all the protective stuff I could. But eventually gave up. Bilstein wouldn’t warranty them and the adjusters are seized as well. Pretty bummed. Idk if they need a rebuild or need a new coating etc. Definitely sucks to spend this kind of money and have bilstein not warranty them and then turn around and change the coating knowing they were corroding so badly.

I haven't needed to service mine yet, but I would reach out to Wheel Every Weekend if you need them serviced. Very knowledgeable and super helpful.
Are yours the gray "painted" version or the older ones?
