So that's what I messaged her - told her it would rust if left bare, but that I could paint it in black paint

Some people like rust, some don't, which is why I left it bare for a buyer to choose

And stainless steel plate is more money

I've sold plenty of medium sized kits already, and just placed an order for 25 specific sized boxes cause I've got 5-6 different buyers wanting a kit shipped

Big one might sell today, dude just needs to borrow his FILs Subaru wagon so we'll see :burp:

On another note - dude on Etsy (with verified sales) offers his 34" or 35" long version for $220

    I'm at $165 for a 39.5" long version

    Neither does painted metal

If you want one in stainless, just place your deposit and I'll go buy some steel

It'll cost more than the above amounts though

a solid 50% of the time you post about cuts and sales I wonder if I should be trying harder to side hustle...

but I think I value my (limited) time more than the extra income this would bring in for me

If you're employed, that'd make a lot of sense.

I'm retired, so this is all side stuff for me. It's nice just grabbing the steel sheet off the wall, leaving it on the table, and when money comes in I cut it out, clean it up, and it's ready to go.

No real time involved either and it's all said and done within an hour.

But to add, I have a small but steady flow of supplying parts to two shops

I created the files, based on actual parts provided, and I churn them out as needed.

I'm ahead of the game by having used left over scrap to cut out extras of those parts so I have some at the ready. No "hustle" there just established relationships.

Those that have bought from me on here already hit me up directly for other items as well.

How much of that does Etsy swipe off the top?

I've only sold a file and made just a handful of sales.

Cost .10 to keep it listed but I don't even remember what they kept from the $2 I charged. Maybe the ad cost is based on the item sale price?

You got me wondering how much their cut is, I'll find out later and post an item up.

When I bought my machine I had a specific (consumable) part and buyer all lined up, but then legally(contractually??) could not sell to them after a promotion.

Am Employed, would like to be retired, but am no where close to that...

I bought my table for myself to learn CNC, always thought it was cool, and never thought of making some of the things I do

Only made parts for one shop because I met a friend of a friend, who owns his own business; he's the one that actually asked me if I could make parts for him before I even had the table up and running

From there, I took it upon myself to find another small shop doing similar work and that's how I ended up with another

How'd your deal come about? Pretty hefty investment to commit to making stuff for others

The part that helps a lot is my drawing/CAD time is spent at night, during the time I normally play video games and drink when everyone's asleep

I've gotten plenty proficient with Fusion 360 though I wish I took the time to learn Solidworks since I have that too

No you're right, you just share a bunch

@Ozark_RegCab actually inquired about several vehicles

    Any lead on those?

I'm still waiting to hear back on the Land Cruiser. The owner seems like the rare person that doesn't care that much about relative values and just wants to get into something new.
