I inquired about a 5 speed AWD Honda Element and 01 2.5RS Impreza but someone else got them before me.

oh shit, there was just an earthquake here...that's what that big ass rumble sound from the roof was. I thought it was workers doing something on the floor above us. They are telling us to evacuate the building in case a bigger one is about to happen

apparently it's not a mandatory building evacuate, I'm staying put. They actually say in the event of a big one you're safer inside modern buildings than running outside where power lines and shit are. I'll just get under my desk if it happens lol.

That Lytle Creek area is not far from here, maybe 30 min drive. Good trails that way

Apparently it was right along the San Andreas fault line so that's why people are thinking it's a foreshock before a much bigger one.

fuck yeah 2024 starting off right, we're sliding up closer to the PNW (not breaking off into the ocean, sorry @JKO1998 )

It was not a hefty investment for me, I got it mostly to open up the possibilities for myself making parts for my projects, hence my nonsensical builds that I generally fail to record.

Once I got it, I basically "insider traded" to offer a fabricated part (cut + bent) to a supplier company for my employer that currently uses a billet machined solution when they don't have to, which results in everyone overpaying for that component.

I ran one of the campus shops in college, and built the necessary skillset to do most cnc work, most manual machining, and all the fab skills; all the design skills and sim skills were a part of my coursework... now its been long enough the previous statement is no longer true lol.

Considering the return on investment, yeah not really hefty at all. Guess it was for me cause I bought it being the hobbyist I am; fortunately as you know, it pays itself off right away.

Having the experience for manual machining and all that, that's freaking awesome. Hell, I want a lathe next but never even used one  someone like you could easily make a killing making stuff out of his own garage especially if you've already got the tooling and knowledge and experience.
