    and thats what I wonder...

the Economy/proximity of CKY isn't what it is in CA, PNW or even the North East... I also can't contractually sell the parts I have the passion for designing lol

Mill is way more useful, then you can toss that drill press out too and have more bench space

Well if you look at the above map...that's just online stuff and totally excludes everything I do locally

At the same time, I don't make much doing this side hustle; I've been doing more welding work here and there than actual cutting on my table but it's fair to say the table averages about $500/mo.

Was slower last month but I blame that to me not doing much work on top of people having spent money over the holidays

Yeah, I worked at machine shop, machining lol

I wouldn't bother with a CNC mill for a home gamer, all the decent ones are a ton of money. And the cheap ones can't do shit. Just a good Bridgeport or Bridgeport clone kneemill and learn to operate by hand. Lots of valuable lessons to be learnt by figuring out how to setup and fixture items, then how to complete your job. Plus you get to learn all the good shop math.

I couldn't remember if you had done lathe work that's why

Yeah a manual one would make sense, both from a learning experience and financial standpoint

Tooling is supposed to be the real expensive part of it all; give it a few more years and I'll be bringing this subject up again :anonymous:

Yeah tooling is really expensive no matter which one you choose. Tungsten carbide doesn't come cheap and high speed steel is pretty cheap but all it really makes you do is wish you had tungsten carbide

Yeah bad CNC programming has its consequences. Also whoever is running it shouldn't walk away until they've proven the program works. It sucks after a bad crash you have to replace some parts yeah that's not the big deal you also have to get the machine aligned
