Really?? Everything I've read up to this point is just conjecture regarding it, except that Lockheed did confirm it was in the works some time ago.

That would be awesome, I wonder if it's really going to be hypersonic

There’s a theory that the rest of the movie is his dream as he’s dying or something.

I’m sorry to hear that you had to make a tough call with the pup. Your situation is your own, of course, but I do know how you feel to some degree, so I know just how heart wrenching that is.

When my divorce was finally done, I made the call to sever all ties with my ex. We didn’t have any kids together (thank god), but we did have two dogs. We basically shared custody of both of them during the separation, and to just add some more sorrow to a really shitty time, one of them developed a fast moving cancer and had to be put down.

We kept doing the shared custody of the other pup for a bit, but I was a wreck. I couldn’t figure out where to keep the ex in my life (like, are we just friends now?), but she was being pretty manipulative and I finally just had to make the call that any contact with her was bad for me. That was easy (she had had an affair and was completely consumed by her career), but the hard part for me was making the call that I’d never see my dog again without ever having that last goodbye. That shit still hurts when I think about it, even though he’s probably gone by now.

All that is to say, good for you for making an extremely tough decision. I’m sure it didn’t come lightly, but it sounds like it will be the best call for you in the long run.

And yeah, I suggested Desert Solitaire. I don’t blindly agree with all of Abbey’s points of views, but I find them resonating with me more and more as I get older. Besides, just reading his detailed descriptions of my beloved desert before all of the massive changes were implemented is a source of joy every time.

That would make sense because the whole premise and plot from there on out is completely ridiculous as well, fun to watch but makes little sense.

I had to suspend my disbelief from the start, but man, that movie was a blast!

Like they come up with that whole crazy plot to do that flight through the narrow valley in enemy territory to avoid radar and the anti aircraft missile sites....you're telling me they can't get the USAF to do something to take out those missile sites? Drones, stealth bomber attack, a cruise missile or some shit I dunno. What is this the Korean War era with F/18s or something

Speaking of which I thought the navy uses F 35s now, but I can understand why they wouldn't let Hollywood use those for a movie lol. Here, you can use the last decade's model

Our situations are quite similar, wow. The silver lining is I still have my dog, it was just the young pup we had been sharing. So it helps that I still have my one sweet girl with me.

I can't say for certain if she had an affair but certainly was looking for greener grass and a lot of questionable/inappropriate things were happening. When the floor gave out I was able to see with clarity the manipulation, the narcissism, and abuse that was going on. Certainly made it easier to point myself in a new direction and not want to look back. I don't want to be in contact with her at all so this is one thing that needed severed. I file the last papers on Monday, house goes on the market in a week or so, and once that is done, I have no reason to have to contact her or her, to contact me.

It didn't take long though to realize she did me a huge favor.

Ed's description of the storm that blasted across his trailer was incredible, I bookmarked it just so I can go back and re-read it once I finish the book. Currently somewhere deep in Glenn canyon in the never ending chapter lol certainly enjoying it. Thanks again!

They use the F35B. But in the beginning of the film during the briefing on the mission they make one comment into why they can't use the fifth Gen fighters, something about the munitions/gps guidence or something. It's easily missed and too subtle for why the mission was designed that way. Plus, no 2 seater F35s so no way to film it the way they wanted to.

Ahh now that you mention that I think I remember it. I remember thinking to myself that they were really covering their bases as to why they would have to do all this unorthodox stuff

It reminded me of the first Star Wars movie. Maybe the Darkstar plane had an escape pod or something.

It basically disintegrated right before he ejected as I recall, would have to be one sturdy escape pod but maybe.
