Hey everyone i have a 2023 TRD sport that is causing me a lot of stress and anxiety. The problem is rodents. I’m not going to ask how to prevent it i simply would like to know how many other people are having this problem and if there is any legal action that can be taken. Over the last week rodents have chewed up coolant hoses 3 times and now they’re starting to work on wiring. I’ve read that rubber and plastic components in Toyota vehicles are made of a soy based product that apparently attracts rodents. I called Toyota ( not the dealership) and was pretty much told tuff shit this isn’t a Toyota issue. In the photo this happened in the hour. I’m absolutely furious, disappointed and don’t know what to do.

Umm is it Friday? If you’re asking if you can sue the rodents, im pretty sure you can’t. You might want to check with Frank Azar though, he might be able to strong arm them for you!

in all seriousness if it’s this much of a problem and upgrading your parking situation isn’t an option and neither is moving, then maybe put out a rodent trap under your parked truck? This is just wild. No I have not had this issue despite many nights spent in the back of my truck in the mountains and leaving it parked at dirt trailheads in the mountains. This is not a Toyota dealer problem.

I feel for you man, but even if you could subpoena a mouse, and get them to show up to court, they don't have any money...

Edit: Damn, second in line on the mouse court joke.

Seriously though, search the forum for "rodent" and you'll see it's somewhat common in certain regions. You won't gain any traction in court. Just got to suck it up and repair it. Most insurances will cover rodent damage... if it exceeds your deductible.

rodent damage isn't just a Toyota problem, it affects all. This is a storage (or lack thereof) issue.

Not trying to sue the rodent man I’m talking about a class action lawsuit against Toyota.. I’m not the only person with this issue it’s happening all across the nation. It’s definitely a factory issue because of soy based product that is used to manufacture wiring harness and other rubber components

It's not soy based thats the problem, rats dont give a shit, neither do squirrels. I have had it happen with Mitsubishi, Subaru, Toyota and Ford. Mitsubishi was about $2,500 in damages. The Subie and 04 Tacoma were squirrels, the Ford was an early 60's. They chew wood, tubing, wiring and in the case of the 04 Tacoma actually clipped the copper wire completely in half.

Rodents will chew on anything chewable. They have to because of their teeth that never stop growing. Soy has nothing to do with it.

Sue Toyota over rodent damage? You can’t be serious man. File an insurance claim and get an exterminator or traps or spray or whatever you gotta do. Where do you live and park your truck in a field?

Do a search of the forum for mice. Many of us have this issue, including myself. Not a Toyota problem, it’s an environmental problem for some of us.

Rodents apparently have homed in on your ‘Taco homie, and they remember it while it has gone. When it comes back and is parked, they’re back at it.

Set traps. Set poisonous bait traps. Your focus should be killing them, not trying to point a finger at Toyota for the rodent environment your truck sleeps in.

Not the taco as I try to get it out of the garage at least once a day but my other vehicles got hit by rodents. Gotta keep the garage stocked with a stick leaned against 5 gal bucket filled with treats, rat traps, and sticky pads. Pellet gun if they were real bad and deserve payback… Red squirrels annd chipmunks out in the country are ruthless. Anywhere outside it’s their world and I’m hands off, but the moment they step foot in the garage it’s game over

Also it’s December. Rodents inside are going to be inevitable. I’m willing to bet every single member on TW has at least one mouse in their house and garage right now

Absolutely not. Kill them mutha frickers. Got 21 gray squirrels already this year and countless mice, mitigating vehicle damage.

There still lurks one particular gray squirrel with a half tail, that I have been gunning for. He’s crazy smart. He knows I’m hunting him.

My wife sustained 4K in damage to her Rogue this year; hence the justification. We’ve also sustained damage in the past. There’s a point where rodents become too numerous and you HAVE to thin them out.

Well, at least we can look forward to the reboot.

    Today on Mouse Court!

Pixie says his sister Dixie did indeed run up the clock, but the slip and fall accident had nothing to do with the butchers knife.

Dixie is seeking two hundred and fifty four dollars and sixty four cents, for medical bills and undue stress, in today's case, of... "If you give a mouse a cookie."
