Society of the Snow, Netflix

based on the Uruguayan flight 571 crash in the Andes mountains in 1972. 20 some survivors have the endure the brutal winter conditions high up in the Andes mountain range waiting on rescue for weeks.

It's really good, but some parts are hard to...erm...stomach...

It's dubbed from Spanish to English pretty well if you don't want subtitles.

with a baby and a 4 year old in our small house, I am so used to subtitles that I use them even when I'm the only one home lol.

With a name like 'society of the snow' i would have not guessed in a million years that it had to do with flight 571... thus i wouldnt not have watched it.. i thought society of the snow would be some chick flick that are a fraternity in college called society of snow of something like that.. producers of movies and shows really need to think about the name before releasing into public lol..

 

Just noticed they turned that into an anthology series. We saw season 1 regarding Dr Duntsch, a neurosurgeon, and was very good. Season 2 is about Dr Macchiarini, a thoracic surgeon - haven't seen that one, but is now on my watchlist. Peacock also has a documentary on Macchiarini, called Dr Death: Cutthroat Conman.

 

It's a Spanish film so I think the meaning/wording of the title gets a little lost in the literal translation

 

trailer is pretty intense, I haven't finished the movie yet (with 2 little kids I get like 20 minute chunks of tv time to myself at a time) but so far I've really enjoyed it

I felt the same way until i read the description.
Then I had a Mandela Effect moment as I couldn't remember the name of the movie Alive.
Was wondering why the remake as the first was fairly on point.
