I've had this combo in my truck bed since 2019. I run my HP O2 scuba booster with it, sometimes 30 min or more at a time. Works great.

That's for the 3-gen. Mine is a 2-gen.

 

Why can I not get these things to work? No matter what I do, they leak.

The threaded part is OK; I can get it to seal with the adjacent fitting.

It's when I push air tubing that's the problem. No matter how hard push the tubing in, it won't seal and continues to leak.

It seems simple enough, but could I be doing something wrong?

 

I switched to compression fittings. With the plastic air lines you have to use nylon ferrules and brass inserts but they are much more reliable while also able to R&R whenever necessary.

 

Thank you, but that does not answer my question. Why can I not get the PTCs to seal. Is there some special trick to it?

 

I switched because I had the same issues and gave up. Apparently they are sensitive to how they are cut but I stopped experimenting when my lines were about to get so short I’d have to run new ones to keep trimming.

 

You could try using genuine DOT fittings instead but I reasoned if I’m switching fittings then fuck it, I’m switching type as well.

 

They MUST be cut cleanly, and at a 100% right angle.

I've got a few to seal over the years. 50/50 shot.

 

I have since seen something about DOT fittings that are supposed to be better.

 

Getting a perfect cut proved beyond me so I switched to something more reliable and less finicky. Correction, not finicky at all.

 

I've got too much $$$ invested in PTC. I really don't to throw that all out and spend more $$$ to go the compression route.

 

Are you using something like this to cut the tubing? I haven't had any issues.

OK. As suggested, I decided to invest in some DOT fittings and, so far, they are working.

 

BTW, is there like some kind of liquid I could put into the air system that would seal leaks from the inside? I'm envisioning something like Bar's Leak but for air tubing and connections.
