It’s a great time to be buying a bike. I’d recommend checking out some LBS’s. You might get a better deal than you think.

For the $2k price tag, the T8 is a great bike, in my opinion. I had a T7 for a bit and really liked it. I upgraded the forks and put I9 wheels on it though. For the money, I’d consider the T7 and replace the fork.

If you can stretch your budget a little more, there are really great options in the sub 3k range. I just picked up a Fezzari Delano for 2,900, carbon frame, SLX drivetrain, DVO suspension.

we finally got snow so we went out to play. Studs went on tonight, hopefully this freezes up and runs faster tomorrow. Then 50’s on Wednesday so it will be short lived, sadly.

x2. Check out Commencal's Meta TR and Fezzari also for DTC. Fezzari will be more money than the $2k budget, Commencal's Meta TR Origin w/dropper is right there though.

Pay attention to warranties with direct to consumer brands. Some are much better than others. Some even require you to have a LBS assemble the bike in order for the warranty to be valid so read the fine print!

Anyone try the 5Dev or Tenet pedal offerings? Tenet looks kinda "eh" but I hear they are reliable. I also want a machined finish that they don't offer. I think it's time for I9 to make a set.

My favorite are the OneUp's (I have about 4-5 different pedals here to play with) so far, but they suck honestly. Might have been the cranks on my last bike, but when you tighten them, the seals get pushed inward binding the pedal up. Nothing extreme, but I'm fat and I need every watt available :D

Just trying to figure out the little things on the next bike.

I have the 5Dev's. They are ok, got them because they are cool - but I prefer Tmac's over most pedals. They are a bit on the small side but super cool manufacturing.

Which ones do you have? Does that platform size change between models?

I have the enduro pedals, looks like the "all around pedals" dont have extra machining that have alot of sharp edges to bite into.

I've always had Deity Bladerunners, and they are always quite smooth even when hella gunked up. I recently moved to the ANVL pedals from Transition though, and I like them better since they are bigger, and give more support to my sz12 feet.

I’m on the other end of the spectrum. Normally wear a size 8-9 shoe. While I typically ride clipless, I do have some Oneup composites I put on from time to time.

Aside from my flat pedal technique sucking balls, I wonder if my smaller feet would benefit from a smaller pedal.

fears tears beers. it's a race in Ely. Last time @Gunshot-6A and I did it, we almost died from the extreme, unusually hot weather.

Funny story from that race, the night before, @Gunshot-6A and I were just chilling at camp. no fires because it was too dry and fire restrictions existed. luckily, the moon was out so we coudl see very well. but we were on our phones scrolling through TW and one of the newest threads was someone asking about stories about...well...hookers and whorehouses. His story involved the whorehouse in Ely. We got a good kick out of the story because one of the stages that my class was racing is on a trail called, "whorehouse" which ends near the location that dude was describing. AND we had ridden the trail that day. lolol.

Looked high and low to see if I was missing any pedals from my short list - I'm a sucker for fancy shit even if it is not needed.

Pretty sure I'm going to order these, they are beautiful. I still have about 4 other pedals floating around here, call them "ol faithfuls" such as DMR Vault, some Stamps, some Spanks, etc.

I've been a huge fan of T-mac's ever since getting my first set. That concave design really works on keeping you gripped to the pedals.

i went back to my composite oneup pedals and didn't like how they felt. I could really feel the middle spindle on the ball of my foot and it just didn't feel as planted as the T-macs.

anyone have any suggestions for an equally grippy pedal with a similar feel?
