You guys are correct, that kind of gearing would fix slow speed wheeling. I imagine distance and rpm’s aren't very friendly, but to each their own. Longevity of stock steering, axles, and diffs is also questionable, but that’s why we upgrade them

yeah, steering rack and tie rods definitely left the chat. CV axle should be better now with that added angle.

depends what size tires you're running, website says its only a 1.22 gear reduction. with the 39/40's and the 6 speed overdrive it should ride pretty nice on the highway honestly. Assuming all the info I have is correct he's only pushing around 2300 rpm at 70

Axles and diffs should like having the portals as they are above the gear reduction. Way easier on them. The steering on the other hand though... :bananadead:

He said he’s on 5.29s plus the portals.

Lol okay my bad. I don't have time to keep up with the drama of the offroading world, that was the last I remember of it and just posted sources. Don't really care about it either way. No need to throw insults around nor do i care to argue about the topic. To me, some chicken scratch on a rock is whatever. Would I do it, no. Do I care that they did or who did it, no.

i also own 0 CBI products for what that's worth. Thanks for educating

According to all the calculators I've found online, It appears as though you are correct on the RPMs (Shy of 2200 rpm with 0.58:1 overdrive). However it all depends on practical use, and if you're able to stay in the overdrive gears with the torque of the 3.5L. If you have to drop down into 5th gear, rpms are up to 2400 to stay at 70mph, and 3200 rpm in 4th gear. And who knows if you throw a torque converter into the mix.

This is very off topic, but I found it interesting to look at the ratios. My 35s and 4.56 have me around 2200 at 70mph with the 2nd gen.

It should still be able to use 5th and 6th under most standard highway cruising. Those gears are far more usable with the portals than without. IIRC his rpms in 6th would be like 1500-1800 without the portals on 39's
