Think ECM got fried, I have found a donor out of same truck. Does it require to be flashed? Same year model

The PCM? Or which module are you talking about?

I'm not sure on 3rd gens (@Bishop84 may know), on 2nd gens you just needed the same part number PCM and had to reset the immobilizer for the engine to run.

How did you determine the PCM is bad?
I thought the engine ran but you had issues with other stuff?

Did you see what communicates with a scan tool and what doesn't?

I believe the immobilizer has to be reset and the keys have to be re-programmed to the new ECM.

The vin has to be written to the ECM as well, but most mid grade scanners can do that.

You need authorization to do an immobilizer reset from Toyota directly.

Looks like that's just if you have the smart key system (push button start), the standard key looks like it uses the same jumper reset method as 2nd gens.
I wasn't sure about the the programming, it's unusual for any module anymore to not need programming (or to even be able to use a used module without doing EEPROM work) but Toyota seems to not be that way for the most part.

If you can't talk to any module in the truck (I'm assuming you have a scan tool that can do all systems?) I really doubt it's the PCM (Engine Control Module) as there are multiple CAN networks.

Have you checked anything at the Network Gateway ECU yet?

Correct no communication at OBD. I’m not as tech savvy with wiring as I am with mechanically inclined elsewhere.

So if you do a full system health report (not talking about a generic $20 code reader) nothing talks?

I'm not really sure how to help you there, I can try to guide you on what and how to test but if you have limited equipment and knowledge of electrical there's not alot we can effectively test.

Being there was aparent evidence of mice damage, damaged wiring and/or blown fuses are high on the list of possible causes.

I mean it should be able to talk to all the modules as it is the factory software although I'm not sure how well the bootleg copies that alot of people get work.

Yea first thing I did was check all fuses. And there is no communication to anything from OBD. I’ve tried every scanner for auto zone to snap on.

If that's the case I don't think you should be going after the PCM, I'm thinking we need to check powers, grounds, and com lines at the Network Gateway ECU since all communication goes through it.

    Did you locate it?

Ok, I have 0 ohms between the high and low at the OBD port. Not good

That would explain why you can't communicate with anything, did you do this test with the battery disconnected?
If so you need to unplug the Network Gateway ECU and see if your lines are still shorted, if not then the Gateway ECU has failed. If they are still shorted you have a wiring issue.
