I don’t live in any type of dangerous or high crime area, i mean anything can happen. Was just asking a simply question but you got your panties in a twist.

Taking this comment with a grain of salt because locational area not disclosed. The county I live in has 3 towns/cities but you go 1 mile and your in the woods. So city slicker comment not valid.

Good for you using them every day. Like I said in my 1st post someone you know or they live in your close area.
    Sorry this happened to you.
I look forward to seeing your resolution to your predicament.

    Stock for now
Swap all your hardware out with anti-tamper torx hardware sometimes that will deter it. Although I've seen where they mess up the persons hood and fender and just bend the bracket back and forth till it snaps off.

OP sorry. Did you email the landlord and or post on the facebook community page? You need to put this in writing (emails to the landlord) in case it gets worse and you have to leave the complex. My friends had lots of their stuff stolen at their APT complex & it got so bad, they got a lawyer & got out of their lease. They had good documentation in case the APT wouldn't let them out of their lease. Did you file a police report? Do you have any documentation that this happened? I'd start because its going to happen again & it's time for you to move out of that shitty complex!!!

If you get a negative response from the APT company, then turn to google and tell ppl online that this is not a good place to live. That is always helpful

Put a blob of JB Weld on the nuts/bolts. Certainly not fool proof, but makes it hard to get a wrench on it. Sometimes just simply making it annoying like that is enough to get someone to leave it alone.

I've been looking for creative solutions to make some mostly side-facing light and for this and other reasons have avoided the ubiquitous "ditch light" brackets. There are some nice alternatives highlighted in this thread so far.

I have an access cab, and was thinking maybe there's a way to stick a light on the back door WINDOW from the inside, with a shield around the works to keep light outside. I haven't checked if there's existing wiring in these doors, but I doubt it. This could complicate wiring for lights. The windows are fixed, so no worries about when they open like on the double cab.

    Thoughts on this?

Those tamper torx aren’t much of a deterrent, you can find the hollow torx bits in just about any hardware store which means if the thief has a hex wrench/allen then they probably have those security torx bits. That or I’ve heard a thief can just fit a slim flathead screwdriver in the angle between two of the Torx corners on those and twist the hardware.

    Agreed 100%

I have a pretty complete set of "security" bits that get me past almost all of those "no user serviceable components inside" stickers. Most often, these are the MOST serviceable. They're just trying to protect their intellectual property.

One-way fasteners are a different story, I think. You often see these on restroom divider structures.

Complete PITA if _you_ ever want to remove them though. I'd use a generous amount of permanent Loctite along with it to deter the use of vice-grips, though the rounded head and stupidly tight will probably make it almost permanent without anything else.

If you’ve got the tool, you can cut the brackets, no fasteners will help.

    would cheap ones be useful?

    -easier to buy
    -less incentive to be stolen
    -easier to replace

I see similar slim yellow ones on Amazon around $35 with good reviews

If you add a Viper alarm, they won't get very far without setting it off.

I have these in amber. They are cheap they work relatively well for the size.
