Best transmission of any of the lego bikes i’ve done (r1200gs, panigale, m1000rrr). 3 speed with some very firm shifts. Only thing I don’t like is the headlight looks like Johnny 5, but that’s Yamahas issue not legos

    Quoting myself. here

Back story, I got this XT225 from the 2nd or 3rd owner and at some point it had been slightly butchered (mainly jetting / cutting up of the airbox / half assed attempt at modding stock exhaust)

Bumped up from the current 127.5 to 130 sized main jet.... I juggled the 130/132.5/135 sized main jet I have and seriously went - dude you should just pop the 135 in there for full send to see if thats your actual issue (fueling) it hurts nothing to be rich.... then second guessed myself and went well "everyone else says 130 should be about the biggest you want to go with the mods you have" ... Zero change to the hickups. Stock main jet size is 125. Stock exhaust has been properly opened up now, and airbox opening has been reduced down to a closer to stock size.

The weird thing is this doesnt seem to be a fueling issue in a traditional jetting sense. Its rather inconsistent and ONLY at HIGH rpms at or near WOT when vibrations are highest. I have done a decent amount of carb tuning on single cylinder carbureted motorcycles over the years and if a fueling issue presents itself typically it stays consistent in that rpm/load/throttle area, in this case its a quick drop cut out here n there then back to pulling no problems.

Hell I did 75+% throttle doing 70-75mph indicated churning 7-7.5k rpms (no tac) for 5 miles without one hickup on the freeway the other day. Get off the freeway, sit idling perfectly proper at a stop light for a min or two for the light rotation at the big intersection. Take off feeling spicy and at the TOP of 2nd gear WOT just about to go for 3rd (which is all of like 15mph - 1st gear on the xt225 is a literal goat gear) the damn thing cuts out for a split second as if someone bumped the ignition switch for a split second.

This just leads me to L O V E L Y wiring gremlins. SO at this point, easiest things first. Im slapping that 135 sized main jet in before anything else as its easy and if its "the problem" will present itself in a consistent manner. Then dive into wiring gremlins... (To be continued)

You Legit had me SUPER excited for the LEGIT thing.... BUUUT sighhhhhh....then I have a SUPER soft spot for legos so the "let down" wasnt so much a let down but transition to different part of the "thats freaking cool" brain. Cus that Lego is freaking COOL!

EDIT - The XT225 is so old school that it doesnt have a rev limiter from my research..... valve float is its revlimiter haha. So thats not the " cut out for a split second" im experiencing. And trust me I experience the revlimier (if there is one) on just about every motorcycle I ride every time I go out.... sorry not sorry.

I have a lego problem :anonymous: this is about 2/3rds of what I have in my office

    image.jpg

and doesn’t include the half a shelving unit of sets I haven’t built yet or all my childhood lego in the garage.

Good luck with the carb stuff. Almost sounds like it’s running out of fuel, do you have an inline filter?

Solid commentary and video work. When I make instagram stories of projects I work on I sound stoned, tired, drunk or just stupid.

Thanks! I am shooting the editing part of it, though I prefer to have music or YouTube playing in the background while in the garage.

That’s the only reason why I can’t get into Lego, I’d spend a bunch of money on one and finish it in one or two rage fueled nights and then it would sit in the shelf.

My dad is getting into Lego and now that he’s retiring he’ll hopefully actually build some of the ones he’s acquired.

Yeah I have too many expensive hobbies as it is. That lego motorcycle costs the same as shock skids for the Bronco. My son did get like a ninja lego thing from a white elephant christmas party that I got to put together. It was enjoyable, I forgot how much I actually enjoyed it.

The price of some of the kits is more than just building an RC car that can move haha.

That's how I feel when I see downhill mtb pricing vs dirt bike pricing ha.

Yoda is on island time I see

I want to get into the legos. But I barely have the time and money for my current hobbies lol.

R3 is coming along. exhaust shipped today, got the front fork springs yesterday, cartridges are scheduled for completion Feb 6th...hopefully won't be much longer after that the bike is done and I can ride it.

Had to take the Tacoma in for smog certification today, and get one of the tent lights fixed. On that note...is there some resource you guys would recommend to start learning how to do basic electrical? I've always been terrified of it, but I'm tired of relying on my shop for what are likely very simple fixes. Or should I just peruse Youtube University?

Yeah when we got busy with the move over the summer, he got parked in the corner, and then I kept forgetting to put him in his Christmas outfit. I should probably swap his hat and lei for a beanie and scarf.

I've started just asking for Lego for holidays/birthdays/anniversary/whatever. It's an easy target for folks and its not like a gift card or something. it has that "OH, that's cool, that's a good idea" factor that like, socks, don't have. And they don't have to guess at car or bike parts yknow. I got five or six sets for christmas collectively from wife, MIL, sister, and parents.

.... plus I also spend stupid amounts of money on them, like the MT10.. and I need to get the Kawasaki at some point before the kid arrives and I no longer have fun money haha
