I have three identical 1080p monitors in my current setup, don't need a big frame pusher really. Only 4k display in the house is my living room TV. I have an ultawide (2560x1080) monitor but have stopped using it lately. 3070 is about 40x more power than I actually need and it really isn't good for any of the CAD stuff since it doesn't support vector direct modes like a Quadro or FirePro card does but having Adobe support again at least will be nice.

I'm sorry since writing that comment your laptop is obsolete again, I know you were happy about not being in much debt but you're going to need to buy another $3k laptop now.

See...you made a bold statement lol but if it's for work-use only then that makes sense

Seems those that are technologically impaired have more success with Mac products so it should be easy for you and your boomer co-workers :luvya:

I just don't see value in overpaying for something with lower performance hardware, the use of proprietary hardware and cables, on a system that does not lend itself to be serviced by the end user (easily or in an affordable manner)

My CNC groups are evidence of this; older people with expendable income, yet post panic threads that the sky is falling because they need help connecting their torch height controller; for reference, torch height controller uses two wires and it's polarity specific.

I love when I'm working on car tuning stuff and some dude comes in asking if TunerStudio, NISTUNE, Haltech ESP/NSP, WinDyne, any of them run on Mac... no nothing runs on Mac. You could try running it in WINE I guess but Mac dropped all 32bit support so most of that can't even function anymore. If you're not just browsing the web or using the Adobe Suite then no it doesn't run on your Space Grey status symbol.

I can't imagine deving on a PC again. Not to mention with airdrop/sidecar everything just works seamlessly. Work also gave me a windows tablet to dev on and it lives in the garage and barely gets turned on because its frustratingly slow. I even tried to buy my wife a nice gaming laptop for her to do design work on and it was a total piece of shit. She bought a macbook pro instead.

I'm a developer, I'm the last person who is technologically impaired. I've put this thing through the ringer between video editing and heavy design files open all the time and it just takes it. Always fast, never laggy. It's great.

I'm not familiar with those programs but no 32 bit support?

Hell even Windows still supports that.

Mac dropped all 32bit libraries so you cannot even do translation to 64bit anymore, it killed off just about all legacy support (not that they had a great track record with that anyway) so even though the Apple silicon macs have Rosetta for x86 to Apple RISC, theres hardly anything that ran on the Intel gens that could work in 64bit only mode.

I have been struggling with that for FORSCAN too. I have an old tower under this desk that has Vista on it I think
