Advice on unhinged pool maintenance guy

But why and try to sue the guy? He was only probably trying to do his best he could under the circumstances. We have had no less than 5 inches of rain and 50 mph winds for the past 2 weeks.

 

I am not trying to sue him. I want to pay his invoice and be done with him.

Interestingly, while trying to find out who actually owns this business, there was a small claims case against him with a DBA mentioned.. but the DBA doesn't come up in the California Business Search.. So this mysterious "owner" is still mysterious.

 

I think best route is to sit tight, let them try to contact you regarding payment, you just have to state that the check was sent out and if they indeed did not get it, they need to let you know so a new payment can be issued and the existing check can be stopped.

Start gathering your evidence. In the case he puts a lien on your home, you have counter-suit ready

 

Send him a certified return receipt, signature required letter terminating all services and asking for a final invoice. Pay nothing until this is done. If you end up in court show the judge a copy of the letter and that you either did or did not receive final invoice. If and when you send payment mail it the exact same way.

When the check was sent, there was not a threat against us. I was just paying an invoice. If I had known the guy would be irrational, I would have obviously done something more robust.

Look 30 days and check not cashed cancel it. Don't worry about lean all talk and no bite. Wait till owner contacts you.

I'm not telling you not to pay your bill, but if check not cashed it could be lost. If it's cashed then send a letter to stop serving you , signature required so you know they got it. If you reissue the check mark it final payment in note.
End of issue won't stand in court, plus small claims less than 1k.

Pool guy is the owner. He only uses DBA.

 

Neither did our pool guy. I'm not talking about ranting on facebook - Nextdoor is hyper local.

He got business through neighborhood referrals, so Nextdoor bad press would have sunk them.

It's 2024. You don't get any customer service without threats, LOL.

i just signed up for nextdoor in my neighborhood, nothing really exciting, alot of people just posting pictures of snow outside. I was hoping to see a whole page of just rants.

Nextdoor is an absolute cesspool.

 

Nextdoor neighbor is like 1/8 mile away and we talk next closest neighbor is at least 1/4 mile away. I live out in the sticks.
