I almost peed my pants. Squirrel out at the bottom of the bird feeder, I took Mal. out the back door and let her out the side gate . She took off after that squirrel I think it crapped cause it took off towards the willow tree. Up it went then jumped to the other tree. Mal. circled around then that darn squirrel decided it needs to jump across the creek to another willow , well it missed judged and did a belly flop right into the creek . Mal. was right on its ass too I had to call her off out of the creek.darn funny wish I had that on video.

 

Back in his day Fritz caught 3 squirrels that I’m aware of. He was scary fast. Loved the river

My little red dog Tater "almost" caught a squirrel one day ... I was in the house heard a blood curdling scream I ran out and a squirrel has bit Tater on her jaw wrapped around her snout like a donut and hanging on for dear life Tater was running into a tree trying to knock squirrel loose I was rolling on ground laughing she finally shook it loose and I patched up her wounds Tater did not learn a damn thing she still goes after them Here is a pic getting bath after catching a skunk

Been a while since I posted my pups. I had to put one of my older ones down in mid 23 (Jackson). We gave him a great life. He went through quite a bit medically and each time pulled through like a champ. We rescued him 1 day before he was to be euthanized. He made it to 11. We went on a short time later to get another lab. I always rescue and really wanted to again but the wife wanted to do the whole puppy thing. So, we got Oakley at 8 weeks. We drove 6 hours each way to just outside Flint Michigan for him. He’s now going on 9 months…….he’s a handful. Pics below show Jackypoo RIP then Oakley

 

He looks like a sweet guy, good on you for giving him a good life, always such a great story to see someone giving a dog true happiness after them knowing such a painful life.

I feel you on the lab puppies, at times it’s truly trying. I’m on my second after I put my yellow Lola down at 13, had her since 8 weeks. I feel it’s pretty hard to look at them as puppies and not want them to grow out of it, but before you know it the puppy’s gone and you wonder where the time went.

 

Three days ago was the third anniversary of Riley's passing. Coincidently, this will be Kimo's third birthday year. When you raise them from puppies, I'm not sure you ever see them as anything but puppies--especially after they're gone.

 

You know they're no longer puppies because they have no more accidents in the house.

 

I agree. This is my personal 3rd go around with puppies. One of which was also a rescue. All the other ones I’ve rescued are usually between 1 and 3 years old and every one has been a lab. Jackson was my only lab mix (beagle). It’s fun most of the time. I have a lot of patience and end up doing most of the work due to my work schedule allowing me to be home more. When my wife reaches her fill, I just gently remind her that she wanted a puppy
