There's something about a well organized shop that makes working on stuff a whole hell of a lot easier. When you know exactly where things are, your efficiency ramps way up.

They are widening the road about 20 minutes from the house, $300 million dollar project.

This happened yesterday with all the rain.

    upload_2024-1-10_8-23-36.jpg

There are 3 ways I can come to work, one of them got washed out yesterday.

    upload_2024-1-10_8-24-10.jpg

When I went home yesterday there was flash flooding in several places. Not sure how much rain we got but it was a lot in a little amount of time.

I’m no civil engineer but it looks like they needed to build robust and frequently spaced culverts and drains to get that water underneath the road and downslope as quickly as possible…

Yup, they had a similar situation on main highway in Idaho. Culvert collapsed/clogged and flooding washed the road out. Took them a while to get it fixed again.

I imagine they'll have all available resources on this one to get it fixed ASAP. It's a major rural road and isn't far from the only hospital around for miles

I did my back deck with the intentions of re-sealing it after I was done, 2 weeks later I had termites coming through the wood wall in my add-on Florida room. Won't do that again.

RIP to my Grandpa who passed away yesterday.. I coincidentally finished the last of these parts (which have been the hardest of my career to date) while still using some of his tools he passed down to me years ago. Was a bitter sweet moment as I'm glad he's not in pain anymore and I was able to see him one last time over this past weekend and actually show him these parts I've been working on in pictures. He was proud.. and I was proud of him as he was the longest living male in our family at age 86.. he beat out previous male relatives who passed in their early 70's. He was ready after a long battle of health issues over the years and then cancer at the end. He decided to stop the cancer treatment a couple weeks ago and go his way, comfortable (on morphine), in his own home surrounded by friends and family. 2 days after all of us family and friends visited he passed.

    RIP Jay Lee Moses
