Any chance you could offer some training of working the repeaters? I can hear em just cant figure out how to talk to em..

Perhaps we could make a meet outta it and get a few to join and share the knowledge.. I know a few that would like to benefit form the info.

You have to know what tones the repeater is using for TX and RX. I can show you this weekend. But a good start is getting an account set up at https://mygmrs.com/

Im also in for a meetup to learn about GMRS. I went to a class at Overland Expo last year and left with more questions than answers. I have a cheap Baofeng but would be happy to upgrade if I knew what I was doing.

I might not be the best guy to offer training but we can all learn together.

I dont think I can make the drive down the hill but maybe we could start a thread on it

If you can hook it up to Chirp software, then use that app to adjust the settings.

I have a baofeng, and some midland handhelds, and a truck mounted, and a gmrs license. Not sure where to start to sort 'em all out. I'd appreciate joining in on the fun!

I've got a midland mounted in my truck, but beyond plugging it into my cigarette lighter, I have no idea how it works. I'm in for a GMRS lesson!

I've done a little research when i purchased my units and got the Baofengs figured out as far a quick program for radio to radio.. But if you have the Rugged Radios they are Per- Programed and dont think you can change the channels to your own customs like the Boafengs.. We tried this on the Cherry Creek run with a members and didnt pan out. I'll jump back into it and see if we can put something together. Midland handhelds/Truck mounts have been great as well, but setting up privacy channels is still new.

I think getting everyone together is a great idea. I wont be there of course. But still. Make it a BBQ and BS session.
