My current fender flares have seen better days. I've come across a nice set of flares from a 2001, but not sure if it's an exact fit, and how they will look. I know that the 01 to 04 flares are a little larger, and was curious if anyone has put them on their own truck. Pics would help a ton. Thanks

I would call toyota parts dept… I have seen subtle changes especially the one by the fuel filler.

It's not an exact fit, but it can work.

The 01-04 flares use the same mounting holes inside the wheel well as the fiberglass flares and chrome trim pieces on earlier trucks. In addition to those holes, an 01-04 flare has plastic plugs that snap into the body. You won't have those plugs, but the flares will stay on the truck well enough without them.

If you still have the factory mud flaps, you might also need to trim or remove them. The 01-04 mud flaps had a slightly different profile to fit around the larger fender flare.

As long as it does fit around the petrol door, I'm fine. I don't have the mudflaps on the truck. I'm also willing to obviously re-seal everything. My current flares are just beat to hell, fading, and have lots of chips and dings. As for calling toyota parts department, I've got a buddy that works for them and has access to that information.

Are your current flares the fiberglass ones? If they're the fiberglass, they might be repairable--even if you don't want to repair them, somebody else (myself included) might want them. Can you post pictures?

You can also run without flares if you don't want to deal with all this. My truck came with the chrome trim strips and I just took them off. I tried the larger plastic fenders and didn't care for the look my truck.

They are fiber glass. I'll post pictures when I get home. I was going to just repaint them, but I think I'm just going to take them off.its mostly rock chips, and sun fading, so nothing crazy. And small scratches from brush and trees in the desert.

The damage is pretty much the same on both sides. They're dirty, but clean up nice.

That doesn't look bad at all. Send me a message if you take them off the truck--I'd be interested in taking them off your hands.
