I make the drive from Reno to Bend OR every 2 weeks. Am more than happy to provide some pointers if this is the route you take. It's pretty straightforward, but can get tricky if towing since there are a couple of gaps with 250 miles without gas.

It's not quite 250 miles in reality, but I refuse to fill up at some of the old stations built in the 50's. My GX only gets 12 MPG and does less than 10 MPG when towing. Makes for some interesting gaps between there. Nice thing is that the route is damn near flat and straight for most of the way, meaning you can pass people easily and go as fast as you feel comfortable.

Yup. Always sucks to pull into a rural gas station only to find they are out of fuel or closed for some reason during their regular hours. I had to buy 5 gallons from a golf course once because the only gas station in town closed early on a Friday and were closed through the weekend. The other options were to drop the trailer and drive to the next town to fill up then come back for the trailer or to stay in town until Monday when the station reopened.

Fortunately the grounds keeper saw my pregnant wife and 1 year old son and helped get me to the next town.

I had almost ran out of gas on the way to Klamath falls after leaving modoc forest. Got lucky in some middle of nowhere town that happened to have a gas pump on the side of someone’s house. Not a place I’d want to be stuck.

Oof. Fuel stops are always an issue. 5.29s happen end of this month, then it's 35gal aux tank. 56 gallons of fuel on board will be a good thing.

I was out in Sparks earlier and gonna head up to Spanish Springs to see some customers. Saw the storm coming in over the west and said, "nah fuck that" and went home
