If it's for your son then he'll appreciate the truck as is so he has a blank canvas to modify however he wishes in the future.

Yea anything above 3" of lift, unless solid axle swapped, pretty much ruins the truck. Leave it be, or throw some 2-3" lift coilovers on it and call it a day

Yep. At some point you need to know when to abandon the platform or get to doing serious fab.

You’re not going to get much support here for a lift above 3” here unless you go for a solid front axle swap. The only way to do it while maintaining independent front suspension is with a drop bracket lift which is basically irreversible, and overall a pretty poor product. I believe some have been able to fit 35s on a 3” suspension lift, but it would require quite a bit of body work to not rub.

These 1st gens don’t do well with Drop Bracket lifts.

If it’s for looks bro, get him a Chevy 1500, 6” lift on 35’s. Get an eBay Z71 sticker and the kid will get flashed daily. Ask me how I know.

Oh, almost forgot, it has to be white.

I added a 6-inch lift kit with a drop bracket from Rough Country. Without the drop bracket from RC or Fabtech, installing a lift would make the control arms have a steeper angle. But with the Rough Country kit, the angles are fixed, returning them to stock angles. Now, to improve the look further, you can use a 2-3" leveling kit on the 6-inch spacer provided by Rough Country to push the control arms back to an angle giving you about an 8-9" lift in total. Now I have a 3" body lift too so I have about 12 inches of lift clearing 35s with ease.

The 35s now look small, the body lift was un needed but its funny being able to see the tops of f250s. I think a 8" and 35s would look sick on yours :)

If you're going DB, I wouldn't run anything else but FabTech. RC is shady imo using nothing but BJ and coilover spacers to extend. FT will provide all new components including extended coilovers and massive spindles.

I’m gonna disagree with that. I’m running a stretch lift. With no custom driveshafts.
1 inch diff drop stacked on an 6 inch rough country diff drop. 11 inch extended coil overs and a 3 inch body lift.
I’m not sure why people are complaining saying that there could be stability issues. This truck does donuts regularly.

If you plan on romping on your truck after doing a stretch lift I would recommend gusseting your spindles and get a good set of leaf springs instead of getting ridiculously huge lift blocks.

Not to mention any IFS lift over 3" just looks cringeworthy. I honestly can't tell if OP is trolling or not.

Just for reference I run 1.5” and clear skinny 35s so not sure why you want to lift 8”.
