holy cow, is there a TLDR somewhere? i don't have the attention span to listen to him nearly-name-drop things while spending 7 minutes moseying over to whatever point he was going to be making.

if this is about people breaking a tool, buying the replacement, then returning the broken one in the new box for a full refund, that craps been going on for a long time.

about 5 years ago my brother finally got around to adding can lights to his house. grabbed a box off the shelf, got it all the way home, and discovered it was entirely garbage. fast food cups, romex sheath cutoff's, insulation, and some weathered 40 year old a/c disconnects...

i've gotten more than 1 led trim where someone stuck their old trim in the box to get a freebie. really sucks when i grabbed 6 to finish out a job that needs 6, and 1 is trash.

I knew when smacking the shit out of it on the tire didn't help, she was done.
Every guy knows, when smacking it against something doesn't work. "It's officially broke".
    Or is that just me?

I had the unpleasant experience of breaking my hand by letting my Milwaukee 18v drill grab at high speed and twist my hand. The upside was I took a month off of work as short term disability.

    not always!

my m12 brushed drill has let the smoke out 3 different times, and somehow keeps going. it has zero torque, can't spin a 3/8" drill bit anymore, but it does still technically work!

I sprained my wrist doing that. Ever since I put the secondary handle in it. I also acquired a drill press too.

    Nice red thread. I’ll play

Love my Hackzall for storm cleanup

PSA. I may have posted this previously. I use one of the nylon tool cases (this was the M12 Installation Driver Kit Case) to store all all my manuals and accessories that come with all the various tools. The ones where I say to myself "maybe I'll need that".

    Milwaukee wet/dry vacuums:

    m12 vs m18 vs m18 packout

I want vs would be nice… my current rigid 9gallon works fine but is cumbersome and I would prefer to leave it at the rental in a designated storage space. I want a small compact cordless vacuum for many different tasks. Given all and all I would prefer the M18 version so then it’s just do I want a packout version? Is the $50-60 difference worth the convenience of being able to just attach it to my tool cluster when performing a task?

Does the air tip vacuum wall mount dust collector attachment work well?

I work on anything from drilling metal enclosures and stripping wire to sandy cars to drywall electrical old work drywall cut ins.

    3” lift. Sway a ways 2.5 on 285 75 16 and much more
I’ve had both m18 and m18 pack out.
Loved the m18. Used it everywhere. Very useful vac. One day it was stolen with might I add a 12.0 battery. That’s when I had to get a replacement. Figured I’d like the pack out better as it would stack but I’m disappointed. Should have got the regular one. 2 things I dislike about the pack out vac. 1 the hose is a pain to keep pining around the head and it’s always somehow in the way. Can’t open the side latches to remove attachments or battery without removing the hose. The regular m18 tucks inside the lid. 2 the bottom tray can only go back in a specific direction due to the vac port being in the way. M18 is a simple vac. Easy to use, gets the job done and runs forever on the 12.0 battery. Not sure how long the packout vac will last but ones it goes out I’ll be picking up the regular m18 vac.

edit: I considered the m12 but I tried my buddy and the m18 outperforms it in every way with just a slightly bigger foot print. Not worth it in my opinion or of course if you only exclusively run the m12 tools then it makes sense.

I've got the M12 Fuel version and use tge 6.0 battery. At the time all I had was M12 tools. It's definitely not a corded in terms of performance. But for the quick/occasional cleanup it's perfect. My neighbor has the M18 (non-Fuel) version and runs the smaller 3.0's. I don't notice any difference in power. I'm assuming it would do better with a larger battery. Can't speak to the Packout Version.

Only downside to the M12 is that it's hard to squeeze the tabs to remove the battery. If you're looking for something easy and portable for a variety of jobs, I think either M18 would work. I like that they have HEPA filters. I've also added the fabric bag that slides over the HEPA.

That old post was in reference to the M12 Platform. Specifically related to the M12 Impact Driver and Drill. I now have those larger M18 batteries (8.0 minimum) for my outdoor power equipment.
