    Hey everyone! I have a question that I can’t find the exact answer to. I have a 3rd gen DCLB and I was wondering if an A.R.E. topper from an Access Cab Long Bed would fit well and have the same lines against the cab? I’ve found people stating that the 2nd gens would be fine, but haven’t found an exact answer on a 3rd gen. I found a great deal on a topper that I would like to purchase if it fits well against the cab. I know the beds are the same (at least I think they are).

    Following! Been wondering the same thing.

    If it doesn’t work, let me know! I’m looking for a nice top on my ACLB. I’ve found a few DCLB tops here in Nashville if you’re interested.

    If both beds have same size, then yes... Otherwise, SB and LB are different sizes.

    SB = 5' bed
    LB = 6' bed

    But if you are talking about transferring the topper from 2nd gen to 3rd gen, which the rail thickness may be different between 2nd and 3rd gens. It may fit depends on how the topper sits.

    Edit:

    Older models of toppers may fit but doesn't sit overhang over the bedsides which mine does.

    2016+ toppers sit overhang the bedsides.

    Yes, both beds are the 6’ version and both trucks are 3rd gen. The back of the cab is the same slope then and won’t have a weird angle?

    They should be the same, go set it on your truck before you pay for it to make sure. Pretty sure I bought one unknowingly off of an access cab and put on my double cab, it fit fine.

    Yes it is same since DC just extended for backseats. Which means back of the cab is moved back to make more room for backseats.. You can picture this in your mind.

    the regular cab has a different angle to the back of the cab than the access cab and dual cab. Access cab and dual cab are the same

    Well, I picked up the cap last night. Made a 9 hour round trip to get it. Thanks for the insight, everyone. The access cab topper fits perfectly on the double cab!IMG_0469.jpg IMG_0470.jpgIMG_0471.jpg

    So, I have a few questions I’m hoping everyone can help me with. The topper is in decent shape but has a few things I need to fix or work on.

    1. The clamps that hold it onto the bed used to have something under them (I can see where it was worn down and I found one of them in the extra stuff the guy gave me). I’m wondering what this little piece is, or if it’s necessary to put under the clamp to give it more surface area to clamp to. If they are necessary, does anyone know what they are called or where to order them from?

    2. The locking T-handle on one of the side windows is missing the piece that would actually twist down and lock under the window frame. Pictures below. It looks like the piece is just screwed on, so it should be a super easy fix, but I don’t know where to find the part to order. First picture is what it’s supposed to look like and second picture is the missing one.

    3. Does anyone know what wiring harness to order to be able to hook up this to my taillights so it will work? It’s got a little plug, but I’m not sure what to order to make it all work.

    Thanks in advance for any assistance you can provide!

    No idea for number 1.

    Take your truck to the topper dealer or truck parts store and they will find the part for you for number 2.

    The harness in number 3 is probably for led light/strip. If it is located in back, where the third light is at (above the topper door), then it is probably for 3rd brake light. The dealer can hook you up for that issue. Unless you know how to wire it up.

    You can wire from taillight to 3rd light.

    Well then it would be different, wouldn’t it be?
