just a couple of things tbh
It’s cheap and if you are wanting it for a wheeling rig it will do great and be better then what we all have… sorry guys we all know solid axle wins… But the one thing I’d stay away from is certain engines I think that one has the 3.8 which is a shitty engine the 3.6 is a lot nicer of an engine. but for that price it’s not to bad for a cheap trail toy. If that’s your goal for it

for 3k? no he really cant... most xjs now are running close to 5k yj and tjs have always been pricey... a jku is a good platform if it doesnt have the 3.8 but many run them and have no issues with them. they are just way underpowered

annnd for a trail toy it dont need to be straight. if that is the intent for a trail toy where it doesnt go on the street then a bent frame means nothing unless its bent like a horse shoe then ya thats a problem. if its only tweaked a little bit you can always have a shop bend it back or if you are talented enough you can cut the bad bit off and either build that new section or find another frame entirely for still a decent ish price compared to spending a lot more on something else thats worse so for 3k it aint to bad especially if you could get it for like 2000-2500.

If it's only a trail toy, can it be rebuilt to a condition that is street legal and plateable or will it need to be towed? Is a reasonable tow rig available? With the frame being bent, what else is wrong that isn't obvious in the pics? That's only the beginning of my questions.

We're all on this particular forum for a reason. A $3k deal gets very expensive very quickly.

i mean thats a given my guess is its a copart buy and someone ran out of time or the want to fix it. my point still stands thou plus if its a trail toy most trailer it anyways... so it will most likely be towed i mean thats what i would do personally.

3k deals can be pricey. but find another jku (if thats what you are wanting) for that cheap.... its just not gonna happen so for 3k or less its not a bad deal. this forum has nothing to do with it either... i like toyota ive owned 3 of em now and have been happy with em but im also no die hard toyota only fan...

Exactly. He needs it moved because they sold the house it is at. I can commandeer a trailer and full-sized rig to get it back home.

I'm going to look at it today to see what "bent" means... if he calls me. It isn't obvious from the pictures what section might be toast.

I do realize that a $3k rig can get expensive fast, but I kind of am expecting that. I'm looking for a platform to build on so I can hit trails and not get hollared at for trashing my DD. Money will be spent.

sick man obviously let us know and take some pics! to me for 3k or a bit less (if you can talk him down) it will be a great start! and if the frame is super bad ive seen jku frames for for 3500 max and at the low end of 1500 so not to bad if you want to swap it.

yup any project can get out of hand when its cheap.. my 98 coupe i paid 1700 bucks for. i have now spent closer to 5k on it lmao. i have another project car ill be getting for free (if it shows up) and thats gonna need some work but hopefully not as much as my 98

In my book, it's not so much that it's a trail toy, or even a bent frame...

It's a shitty jku. Even the Jeep guys* don't like em.

    *Mall crawlers excepted

Edit: TW is auto tagging and cross linking forums and threads now. Have fun kids.

I'm on the lookout for an Xj, Samurai, or Geo Tracker as well.

So it isn't like I'm pulling from the top of the barrel.

i know thousands of people with jkus and have no issues with them so thats not entirely true man... the biggest hate the jku has gotten was the orignal motor of the 3.8 its not that great and its rather gutless but overall can be good if taken care of.

Fair enough. It's a SWB monster and definitely outclasses the Tracker.
