They did release an updated ball joint that has no grease zerk but x axis joints have not changed. I can't see the ball joint design changing to much feels just as sloppy as the old one and there's still a spot for a zerk to sit. Tweaked sure improved not from what I have seen or heard.

The X-axis joints have changed once or twice from their initial release. I think the earlier UCA's had more issues with the ball joints and less issues with the x axis joints. I've had no issues with ball joints on any of my SPC arms, and they all had the greaseable ball joints.

My Accutune arms have greaseable ball joints, but the grease doesn't leak out all over the spindle/knuckle like it did on the SPC's.

With that said, I've always used the best moly grease I could buy for ball joints to try to alleviate any issues. Here's what's in my grease gun:

I'm looking at the BTF Fab UCA's to match their high caster LCA's

Hard to justify any UCA that runs poly bushings for the X-axis joints without grease zerks.

If I was choosing something with a Uniball over a balljoint, it would have to be a sealed joint like the JDfab one. They also have a low caster option for when you push the LCA forward.

Good news is it would be easy to drill and tap for them if needed. I do like the JDfab ones. Especially since they have options as you mentioned.

My Icons did poorly with the uniball and delta. Both lasted around 30-40k. I bought a set of JBA to try out.

Interesting hearing all of the problems with SPC, mine have been problem free.

As an SPC fan, what other arms would be comparable with the amount of adjustments that they provide? Non-uniball.

If you’re not lifted that much, running super wide tires, or running a 2.5 shock the oem control arms do fine.
I switched to JD fab when I got kings, and the 35x12.5s rubbed on the oem.

I would probably go JBA for a ball joint (easier maintenance) or total chaos for uniball.

Spc seems to be hit or miss on here, if you do buy spc buy them on rock auto for cheap, no point in paying a fortune for a fancy box from an “overland” website

well, they have dimension options that match their LCA pivots
and they are the only company that makes a Tacoma LCA pivot kit, so...

the only other one I'm curious about is Camburg described as having adjustable inners to adjust caster and camber/offer more adjustment points. Don't know if that's needed or not. I'm guessing it depends on rest of the suspension setup.

I definitely want to stay with ball joint. Just a personal preference. I went from spcs to total chaos and mid travel on my previous rig, had nothing but trouble. Esp after a couple of Tahoe boarding trips, hose downs and triflo.

Absolutely did not know you could pick them up off rock auto, that's a solid tip!

A lot of folks to talk up jba which I'll def look into. I came from the Nissan world where jba didn't exist and SPC, TC, 285s were the standard. Mimic'ing that stance....is rather more intensive in the yota world I find.

Reread your post. At 2 inches, I wont be looking at too much pos camber without correction length arms? The nice part about the SPCs were my alignment guy was able to dial out enough caster to allow me to go lock to lock with 285s which was nice. This is all Nissan geometry tho but I know fitting tires is harder on tacos.

The jbas come built in with a nice 3 extra degrees of caster. And they are actually cheaper then SPC along with US made tooted.

Also sadly there were no SPCs on rock auto but great prices for 6112s which is what I'm leaning heavily into

JBA/Accutune for affordability, function and high castor adjustments
Total Chaos just plain work, feature uniballs which are super strong, but the squeaky bushings and the need to unbolt for greasing :annoyed: (could always swap in jba bushings)

Elevate makes some neat billet uca's in different anodized finishes (king blue, fox orange, red and grey) uniballs, alignment spacers for adjustment ect.

JBA seems to be one of the more popular choices. Pros and cons for each.

The Dobinson Billet arms are likely one of the best on the market right now. Durable, OEM like ball joint, don't have to sit there and grease it every 5k.

But what makes them shine is that you can set them to 2 degrees (Or 3) of caster instead of the 3 degrees that most fixed arms have. Less caster up top keeps the wheel further away from the body mount area. So if you are running 32.7" tires or bigger and a lift then then this will help with the body mount clearance.

I have Dirt King ball joint UCA's...mostly because that's what the shop who did my suspension recommended. They stopped selling SPC because of all the issues with them.
The Dirt King's seem to be controlling the up/down motion of my suspension like they should, so I guess they're great. Hahaha.
