My son has a 2015 Tacoma Prerunner and has a 3" strut spacer and RC upper control arms on the front. The tires are wearing bad on the inside and the angles do not look correct. The passenger tire looks to be wearing more than the drivers side. He is saying it needs 4" spindles. I would really like someone to look at the photos and give me their opinion. We are already going to need 2 new tires and I want to make sure the 4" spindles are correct or how we can determine what we might need. Thanks in advance for any help.

Are those photos with the truck on the ground or is it jacked? If those photos are with the truck on its own weight you have absolutely 0 down travel. I reccomend removing both the spacer and coilover. Look for factory front takeoffs and get lift spindles.

This on the ground and not jacked up. When you say look for factory front takeoffs are you talking about the coilover or tires?

Im not sure what 6112 means
    it is 2wd
    what is cam tab strengthening?

    Talking about coilovers
It's a coilover that bilstein offers for our trucks. However being 2wd you get the option of lift spindles.
Some companies offer kits to strengthen the alignment tabs. Not necessarily needed if the truck only sees pavement. More so for the guys that constantly wheel and knock their alignment out of spec. Helps prevent that from happening.

    Ok thanks
So if we remove the strut spacers and install a 4" lift spindle that should fix the alignment?

I'm not going to say that it will, but right now the bigger issue is the upper arm resting on the coil at ride height. Not trying to bash you here but the truck probably rides like shit. There's literally 0 down travel. Are those factory coilovers or aftermarket?

Yes it does ride like shit now. After install the ride was fine but the last time I was in the truck with him it was rough. I told him to park it till we could fix it. Didn't feel safe. Normally I would have something like this done but he likes to mechanic and this is the best way to learn.
The coilovers are stock. the only thing added are the strut spacers and upper control arms.

Good on him for wanting to wrench on it. Is it just me or do the spindles look bent?

He's young he's learning. I did stupid stuff at 17 too

I can't tell that the spindles are bent. It could be an older bend, if it is. Ive add more photos that might be better

That brake line is absolutely screaming. Invest in some longer lines while your at it

OP this is going to turn into a roast my truck Friday dumpster fire thread. Go back to factory specs up front and start over.

That's more than 3" of lift, beyond the adjustment capability of the alignment cam bolts, hence the tire wear. Removing the puck spacer and changing to lift spindles, then getting an alignment, will fix things.

One of the dust boots on the steering rack has fallen off. Resecure it or the tie rod will die an early death (if it hasn't already).

Your son is likely talking about Maxtrac lift spindles. They're an option on RWD Tacomas if you want a more than normal amount of lift in the front. They allow you to keep some fairly normal spring/shock combo in the front and the control arms won't be at such a downward angle.

Google maxtrac and the vehicle type, you should be able to find it.

Ignore the unhelpful one word responses above

    @PaulinFl
Why lift spindles are being suggested is because:

    1. It's an option for 2wd prerunners but not 4x4.
    2. You get 4" of lift over stock WHILE retaining near stock suspension geometry.

This means if the lift spindles are used with stock coil springs and a near stock shock (bilstein 4600s)... your truck's front suspension will ride like stock but with the additional lift up front.

As suggested, remove the upper spacer lift. Get a set of stock takeoff shock/springs. Install them with lift spindles. Then take it to a professional alignment shop.

I knew before I posted there would be some roasting. I roasted him myself before when told me what he wanted to do with it. At 17 I thought I knew everything too.
