Chevy will be happy to take Toyota market share. I guess we know now why Toyota held the Tacoma prices until the last possible moment.

Now the question is, will loyal customers revolt and buy the Chevy? Stay tuned for Q1 results.

    Yeah they will.

Perhaps, certainly peaked my interest, and I have been loyal for 30+ years. Prices, going backwards on certain things, questionable styling both inside and out. Toyota has been let down over years on a few things too. Would have to do the Silverado over the Colorado since there isn’t a 6’ bed option. Could make an exception though.

Too bad you can’t even get heated or non-cloth seats in it :(

What items do you think make the Tacoma superior? They seem quite equally matched to me. Probably the closest the two trucks have ever been to each other.

    All truck packaging is frustrating.
Tacoma have to go premium package for $8,800+ to get 360 camera. ($52k* truck).
Colorado gives it to you as option on Trail Boss for $950 (lumped in with ACC, etc)
Want LED headlights on a Trail Boss? Nope sorry not available, standard on Tacoma.

I said “if”. I think it will come down to the individual buyer. I’d have to drive both back to see which is nicer.
The added torque of the Colorado/Canyon seems nice v the Tacoma for towing applications. I think the Tacoma will obviously sell wel, and like they kept bed options, transmission options, etc. hearing the 4Runner has a manual possibly for next gen, is enticing too.

Local dealer sold all 2023s that they had and all 2024 that they have allocated to them.

It is. Especially living in the age of nearly endless choices.

4G will sell well. Predicting an increase of the GMs too.

Sure Toyota kept the manual trans, but can only get in certain trims and cab configurations. Kinda lame, they did that with the 3rd Gen too. Wanted a manual in either the SR or an OR ACLB, Toyota said “no soup for you!”

Wouldn’t hold your breath for a manual 4Runner. Is it even going to exist into the next generation at all? Don’t see the point of it with the new Land Cruiser onboard. Of course the Sequoia still does.

There hasn't been a manual 4R since the early 2000's if my memory is correct. Seems like a real possibility in the next one since it will share so much with the 4th Gen Tacoma, especially if they try to compete with the Bronco and Wrangler.

Yeah it has been awhile, when they had the 5VZ engine in them was the last of the manuals.

The FJ Cruiser was supposed to be a Wrangler fighter and they blew that. Maybe they learned their lesson? Have my doubts thought. Every generation of Tacoma there is always some let down, 4Runner is no different. Would love to see a more utilitarian version like how the original was, but it keeps on getting more and more lux.

    Buick!?

Could see a Cadillac Escalade, since they already did that on the GM Avalanche chassis years ago, but not a Buick.

True, 'options' are bundled into packages, limiting choice. But with Toyota you are also at the mercy of the allocation system too. I could custom order a GM or Ford and get exactly the options I want, notwithstanding their packaging limitations. I am not too fussy, I can wait for an allocation that is close and accept it, but it's not ideal. Especially if you are an SR with no options kind of buyer as I am. The Toyota trucks usually come loaded with high profit packages, and some regional distributors (south east is notorious) very rarely have lesser optioned vehicles is my understanding. My Tacoma SR5 allocation has $585 heated seat option, which I would never buy with free choice. I'd be a lot happier with that $585 in my bank account, warming my heart rather than warming a seat. To each his own.

It seems like they can go several different directions with the next 4R. Since there are so many different trim levels, they seemingly could cover utility to luxury and everything in between.
