Ultimate Ski/Snowboard Interest thread!!!

Now I feel like a twat for complaining last week about the snow coverage. Huge blizzard forecast for the Cascades tomorrow, 45-60 mph winds, possible 40 inches of snow between now and Wed morning

I'll be touring at Hyak tomorrow, feels like the safe bet. Close to a major highway and no avy terrain. No way I'm driving to stevens pass, that 2 lane highway can get blocked by blow downs easily. By Wed the storm should be calming down

And it's going to snow 2- 3 feet at steamboat over the next few days...

No skiing as of yet this season...but it is NBD!(New Boot Day).

My local Ca resort starting to get a bit more snow. Fun day on Thursday.

 

Steamboat was just stupid today. At one point I absolutely needed a snorkel.

 

I've been wearing ThirtyTwo boots for years now. Since I know how they fit I can look for deals and order online.

Always traditional laces. I tried BOA type stuff and just didn't like having a metal cable down there. I like the stretch and feel of cloth laces

I go through a pair about every 2 years, usually the liners wear through and start to chafe my ankles. I wish you could get extra liners but for some reason that's not a thing..

And I squeeze into a size 12 so I'm not dragging toes/heels on my thinner boards.

Yup, I've ridden 32 since I started. I went with the TM-2 Double BOA. Coming from laces I really like how easy the boots are to get on and off, not to mention tightening them down is a breeze.

HOWEVER, the boa system likes to loosen up during the day, but I also experienced that with traditional laces, and the BOA is easier (IMO) to quickly tighten up on the chair lift.

I have had the boa pop out and totally loosen once which was super annoying, but overall I'm happy with it.

I've also over tightened them (probably my fault) once and lost feeling in my foot.

I used to like EVO before it got too corporate, now Motion BoardShop and Stevens Pass Snowboard Shop get all of my business.

Both shops are extremely knowledgeable and don't just try and push Orca's and DOA's on you lol.

Picked up a Quiver Killer from MoBo this year, tried it out on Saturday but it didn't want to slide anywhere due to me not having wax meant for -25 degrees

 

stepping out of the 90s and into the 2020s.



i'm expecting it ride similar, yet better...
even the mrs was surprised that i was still riding "that board with the stars on it"

Anybody else up at Park City this weekend? Decent snow, indecent crowds.

 

our local hill closed early, almost no one out like less than 10 people... because of cold probably. It was around -5 before windchill... I only got like an hour of riding

 

Holy crap. How long of wait is that line? I hate waiting around. I’m at the point where I would rather have crappy snow and short lines than good snow and long lines.

 

The snow would have to be exceptional for me to wait in a line like that.

 

Thats the beauty of touring. Top to bottom pow all weekend long. Just have to work for it

 

It was an hour and a half to get that lift open. I generally skip crowds like that myself but this was an impromptu trip with work folks when our flight home got canceled due to -38 temps at the arrival airport.
