I was curious what folk fuel their saws with.

I use Sunoco SS100. Heavy tuned fuel, but the Husky autotunes take it well.

There is a 76 station in the town where I work that sells ethanol free fuel for the local race/drag track. I get my saw fuel there.

Edit: I should add that I had some work done on some landscaping equipment at the local saw shop and they gave me a can of the Stihl premix fuel. Last couple of trees came down while using that. Ran well…smelled funny hahaha

Same as others. I drive an hour to a station that sells ethanol free (91 I think). Fill up a 5 gallon can and use that to fill up my smaller 1 & 2 gallon cans that I mix with the oil.

I used to use Stihl Ultra HP but Red Armor tints the fuel red. So you KNOW you grabbed the right fuel can

Plus, the Red Armor doesn’t seem to stop up the spark arresters in my hand held blowers. (I know I should just remove them)

It does have a distinct smell. Almost like the 110 race fuel we used in our motocross bikes. I think it’s an additive they use to boost the octane. Tulane or something. I forget the name.

    Hell yeah :spy:

Finally finalized the tune on the 136cc motor (after 6 WG’s!!!!) on 5% flowing perfect. Jazzed and can’t wait for the Tuolumne Lumber Jubilee.

Took up square filing again. Only this time with a lot more knowledge overall. Cut goood.

Nice. I’ve put down a ton of wood with a 362. It’s a good saw. Nice choice for someone looking for one saw to do a little bit of everything.

Love me the Makita Battery chainsaw. I don't do enough sawing to bother with a gas powered. Just need to get a tree out of the way to get past it on the road or cut me some firewood real quick.

I have the little makita saw that I keep with the chipper. It’s perfect for the guys to make cuts with to get stubborn branches to feed. I’ve wanted to try out the big double battery one but haven’t had the chance. Might end up picking one up for the hell of it. I’m already invested in the platform with a million batteries kicking around. What size bar does it come with, 16”?

    Thanks
the saw has been a perennial firewood getter since with the exception of having to take down a tree a year at our old address. This one took a few years before I gained the intestinal fortitude to take down. By then it had become quite rotten! I figured each of these were worth twice the price of the saw.

So I'm going to take your post today as a sign...
I Scorched the piston on my MS390 this fall (believe a huge standing dead Elm was the culprit) and am in need of a larger saw. I had bought an MS362C on Craigslist 7-8 years ago only to find out it had been stolen from one of my customers. Obviously returned it to them, got my $ back from the seller and an apology, and bought the MS390.
Now I can't get over the $$ for the MS 362C!! I walked in to my local dealer today to get one and felt like an ass when I audibly gasped. I'll take your post as the sign that it is a great saw and I've wanted one for years...
I appreciate the assistance in justifying my spending, thank you!

The 362 is a fantastic saw. Definitely more for serious work than for someone who only occasionally needs a saw, but you can't go wrong with any of the Stihl pro models. You might check out a 441 if you have lots of big stuff, only about $100 more

Looks like there a 400c now too. That looks like a cool "mid" size saw

she bought it in 2015 and I took it in for stalling two years ago. The shop misdiagnosed the problem, something had gotten into the carb needle so it puked fuel. (Common issues with old car carburetors). It’s been great since! It is getting heavy for an aging guy however
