This is the fire code. No real way to make it up to code unless I prohibit access to vehicles into the garage(install a big ass permanent pole). I have no problem putting one in myself and running it safely. Hell I am at work 40 miles away and mines goin right now with my fiance and dog upstairs and I have zero issues with that. Built the entire thing myself and fixed the wood stove.

But, is a wood stove, an appliance? Like is a hot dog a sandwich?

    :spy:

That blows. You'd have to do an outdoor one for the garage then. Doable, but might not be worth the hassle.

Yeah Id much prefer a wood stove then anything else, has its real drawbacks but I just like them alot.

When you get into semantics with an insurance company like that I will 100% loose if I ever do have to claim anything.

Yeah, IF for some reason, I get an offer that I can accept for this new job, I'll be scoping for a commuter.. 15mpg avg out of this Tacoma, won't cut it for that commute. Thinking older VW TDI, basically a gallon a day for a commute, maybe 2....

I dunno. Finding the transition to corporate/management work... presenting some financial challenges that I need to figure out.

I was joking about the hot dog sandwich thing, but I was serious about the outdoor stove for the garage, I think that's what is allowed by insurance and fire code.

I am looking for the same thing. Looking for a Jetta wagon or Golf with a ALH and a 5 speed.

If I were you id stay away from any DPF nonsense, they sometimes crack within 30k

Yep, same. ALH. If I have to travel, I will.
We've talked about bringing the WK2 up here, but, since it has almost no miles, no salt ever, etc, rather just leave it there, and sell her subject, and IF I buy a commuter, that as well when we move(if).

I can spend 30 minutes with an amp clamp...

If their furnace is gas for backup, have the, switch to emergency heat, and see how much it drops.

I would put a strong wager on the electric water heater being the #1 contribution. Ours certainly was.

What about a pellet stove? They don’t need the same space as wood stoves.

I'd call that liquid fuel, going back to what elementary science taught me about phases. I'm sure the building code may have other clarifications or nonsense that muddy that up also :notsure:

Remember Chicago can be just as rusty if not worse than trucks here. Inspect that thing to the T

Could do waste oil, but they go through alot. I also dont like the idea just cause we are trying to grow as much as our own food as possible.

We can still cut it apart in the cold!!

Pellet stoves are still solid fuel. Insurance companies are stupid. If your worried about fumes I could put on a outside air intake.

    Whole thing is frusturating.

I'd be more concerned with the bullet holes and scraped off VIN's but rust could be bad also :stirthepot:
