Short hop pickup fleets will help move the market towards what made Toyota popular before Tacoma became sexy. Those fleets won’t have bells and whistles just the bare minimum and when they hit the market the cheap truck boom will start all over again as non fleet customers want one as well.

That bull shit was written by Toyota to keep people on the sidelines. A little bit of basic understanding of how electricity actually works proves that 10 minute charging to a range of 750 miles isn't going to happen on any scale. Also living with an EV proves that is unneeded, but Toyota keeps posting this crap.

This actually addresses the biggest detraction to EV purchasing...charge time and range. Many car mfgs. have been testing fast charging tech from a Michigan company with current Lithium battery tech. It will happen but not large scale as would be needed. Solid state batts are coming with the fast charge time mostly from Japanese companies. Nissan, Toyota etc. They don't want to go all out on EVs since range and charge times with current tech is the major hold back for consumer adaptation of EVs. To them it seems like they would be delivering an inferior product. To me current non solid state batts are just an in-between to Solid State and other upcoming battery tech.

If you drive a Tesla range anxiety and charge times are simply red herrings put out by the likes of Toyota and other EV haters. I've driven my Model Y from coast to coast, from Canada to the Mexican border, 25K miles of road tripping. Its been to 30 of the 50 states and never once have I thought "gee I wished this thing charged faster." Never once have I had range anxiety. Actually more than a couple of times it was done charging and I wasn't ready to go yet. Now if you drive anything else you're at the mercy of Electrify America and others and their absolute GARBAGE reliability. But, that will change in the near future as other makers are able to use the Tesla supercharging network. There's also the issue with solid state batteries being fragile. They don't like shaking and vibrations. Seems like that would be a problem in a car.

If you have the ability to charge at home charging times are basically irrelevant. I couldn't tell you how long it takes to charge my Tesla, because I simply pay no attention. It's like my electric tooth brush, I use it, plug it in, forget about it, and it's ready to go next time I need it. Another reason home charging times are irrelevant is the biggest charger you can install is going to be 240V at 60 amps. Even if you could charge a battery in 5 minutes you're average home can't supply the power needed. It's like filling your tank at the gas station. If the pump only puts out 5 gallons a minute it does not matter that the tank could be filled faster. You're only getting what the pump/wall charger can give.

I'm not a pessimist like most EV haters. I don't assume that charging infrastructure can't be built, or that SS batteries can't be made to withstand normal car vibrations. I just get tired of the FUD from companies like Toyota. They've got one EV and it is crap. They know it, the buyers know it. If someone buys an EV today they are out of the market for sometime to come. And at the rate the dip shits at Toyota are moving I might buy an EV from them in 10+ years when I finally say goodbye to my Tesla. But, I will have had 10 years driving the most fun to drive car I've ever owned.

Believe the FUD, stay on the sideline, that's what Toyota wants you to do.
