So lets pretend that 4Runner take rate is identical to Bronco, assuming identical sales figures from 2023 of 109,951 that puts us at 16,492 units. Shit, even if its 2% that is over 2,100 units.

You're saying they will only put the manual in the most expensive trim? They are not even doing it with the taco. I thought the Taco manual were in cheaper trims?

Not sure I would, do prefer driving manuals over an auto, but I have a bad back, it sure does feel a hell of a lot better since I quit driving one a little over two years ago.

Watched the TFL video on the ‘25 4Runner, the kid was saying might have a price point in the $30K, highly doubt that since the current one starts at $40K.

I couldn’t get a manual in my SR, has been that way for awhile, since 2016 is when they stopped.

Supposedly there is manual now in the SR XtraCab (will have to check when I have more time), question is if there will be any allocations. Can’t get a DCLB with a manual.

Just the way Toyota packages things, guessing it will hard to get without paying through the nose if they do.

They still made the SR manual in 2017. I wanted one but there were none left in NorCal in February of 2018. Had to settle for the MT AC Sport.

I'm hoping they put the manual in the new 4runner as well and would consider buying one over a DC MT 4th gen. That makes 5. Get corporate on the phone so we can let them know there is actually a demand out there.

Auto transmissions are so good now I could care less about manual. If I was buying a 20 year old vehicle well then I would probably get a stick

Same situation , I have a 2021 Manual and while I love the truck I have a bad back and its killing me. Thinking of trading it but the prices on the new ones are holding me back big time. We'll see!+ I still have to see how the 4 Turbo engine is going to behave. The Tundra first batch of trucks have a lot of issues

Agreed, I see no price reduction at all. Curious if the 4Runner crowd will feel the same as Tacoma about a turbo 4.

I would...IF..the powertrain proved to be as reliable as the outgoing generation...so it has a few hundred thousand miles to put on em before I would be convinced.

Who are these people that don’t want an old school reliable automatic 4Runner that switched to a manual wrangler or Bronco that are now going to switch back to a new pussified 4Runner with a turbo 4 cylinder and all the nanny safety features? I don’t think these people exist. The soccer moms that currently love the 4Runner surely aren’t going to switch to a manual. The men that commute to work in them aren’t going to want a manual either so who are these people? I don’t see it happening.

Isn't the V6 with less torque the pussy in the room?

They are getting close to .1% of a 64K sampling on just one website of owners, now...all 64K of those owners are not 3rd gen owners. That is without looking to see if there were any more failures today. I haven't logged on to other social media sites today yet to see if there are any new ones, usually its at least one.

So no, I do not have Toyotas secret database of failures on the 3rd Gen Tundra engine. But my unscientific analysis says If I begin to see failures left and right day after day over months with the same issue at similar mileage, there might just be something to it....or at least maybe the hundreds of thousands of miles of testing didn't quite take into account assembly errors etc, when the motor actually went into mass production.

You can test the engine all you want from the factory but the one thing they can't test is mainstream production reliability, that doesn't happen until the truck gets put on the road by owners and used and abused.

So like I said, when the powertrain has some real world use we should begin to see any weaknesses or potential issues that might make it not as reliable over the long term as the outgoing generation.

No one knows the number, including the guys that think they do with their super secret databases, but I do know unhappy people when I see them and I have seen enough for myself to know that there is something to what they are saying. Until there is a year with no failures, I will unscientifically deduce that there is still a potential for failure.

And for anyone that says...so what they are under warranty, there is a failure outside of warranty that I think a lot of people are waiting to see how Toyota handles. If they handle it...they they just might be acknowledging that there might be an issue and they are aware of it.

Was that with the V6? Thought about getting a Sport ACLB, too much stuff I would have change to get it to my liking. Ended up digging the auto.
