    Hey All,
Have a 2016 DCLB TRD sport, with 140k miles, lift, had the rear diff recall done a few years ago!
Did search and did read up, just looking for more possibilities of the problem.
Got in the truck this morning, and back tires were dragging, tried 4x4, emergency brake release,
back to 2 wheel, nothing seems to help, it does roll backward a bit better. Almost feels like the brakes are on, my driveway is a short steep hill, when put in D and no handbrake, it will not roll down.
Took a long trip yesterday, rained, wet day, today and as of overnight, temps dropped down into the teens, could it be frozen!? Thinking of waiting for warmer weather to see if that helps, then bring it in anyway!! Thanks in advance for ideas!!!

    Most likely frozen.

Rock 'em gently back and forth under power (D/R) a few times. Ice freezes in the drums (all the time) and discs (sometimes).

Did you have the parking brake set overnight, after the drive in the wet weather? It’s possible that the brake “froze” or rusted. I had a similar situation and got the brake un-stuck by rocking. There is a thread (or two) on TW that addresses this particular issue. Hope it’s not any more serious.

When you shift between D and R to unlock, remember that the rear diff can be blown if you do not allow a second or so settling time between directions ... no joke. Just let the truck stop before changing direction.

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
It’s pretty much my routine to move the truck in reverse a few inches and hit the brakes to free them up. Then proceed forward. So far it’s been working.

Also look for any cuts in the insulation of the parking brake cables. I had one get a cut in it after lifting from rubbing on the bracket, water got in there and it would stick in cold weather

See post #16 on this link. Toyota recommends blocking the wheels and not setting the parking brake to prevent freezing.
