Yea I think it's 2 bolts that hold it on, I used a ratchet wrench to get them out.
I would have documented it better but we were really busy that day and I needed to get it done.

Idk what is different for 2011, but this canister is not coming out without the bed removed. I removed the entire pump. Can’t shift it anymore to the right or left.

Not sure but like I said I've only ever done one and I got it out relatively easily but I don't remember all of the details.

Well rather than prolonging the inevitable, I ended up undoing the bed bolts and tilting the bed up slightly to get it out. I was honestly perplexed as to why mine didn’t want to come out. The ribs on this composite bed do hang low, especially next to the canister. They become more shallow closer to the end of the bed. I don’t know if that’s the case with all the composite beds. But I thank you for the advice! Still came in handy.

After finally getting the old one out, was able to reverse-order the new one in pretty smoothly. Had to disconnect the filter line from the filler neck but that went smooth. Cleared the codes and fingers crossed they won’t come back! :fingerscrossed:

Well codes are back. Got almost a month out of it. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that they are back with the heavy rain. I have fiberglass fenders and water is splashing directly on to the filler neck tubing from the tires. Truck passed smog last week so at least that’s done with.

I’m pretty bummed and am sick of the check engine light. Do I have any other options besides shelling out another $400 for a completely new unit again? I don’t think it’s a vacuum leak, otherwise the codes would have come back a lot sooner.

I've been getting these codes with more regularity lately. I think it's time I bite the bullet and replace the canister.

Looks like I’m joining the gang. 5/5 codes, but I can’t say I’ve ever been one to fill the tank past the click.
fiberglass fenders, fill neck extension, and a lot of off-roading though.
Where have yall been getting the pumps ?
eBay? Dealers? Pick a part ?

you can buy the vacuum pump separately but it’s not worth it. Your best bet is to find a junkyard swap for $25 or so, or pay the $250 for the oem setup.

Sounds good. I’ll probably just do the one $250. Not worth it when I got smog in a month here in California

it’s a pretty easy swap if you’ve ever had the bed off.

I replaced pump, canister, and filter. No bueno. Came back within a month. Honestly feel like gutting the entire system and replacing the fuel tank with a larger unit. Not shelling out another $400.

Dang that’s not making me feel cozy :(

it doesn’t seem like too hard a swap. Most of this truck has been apart at one time or another.

A valid option, although I originally wanted to use that as a tool space. However relocating the tank would leave room for 4-link later and mean I could move the fuel filler neck out of the wheel well. I think it's still smog-able too with a certain tank.

So I’ve heard as well. Not sure if that’s the 25 gal tank they recommend or the fuel cell that’s custom made. Either way if I could get 25-30+ gallons of fuel behind the axle smog legal I’d be stoked.

or I’m also considering Montana LLC reg. 10+ yrs old can perma reg. And then no smog no nothing!

But for now, Evap filter and box ordered from the online link. Let’s hope it works long enough to pass smog next month.

Little bit of this and that
Adding myself to the list, I've got 5/5 of the codes. Looks like I'm going to be replacing the evap canister and filter.

I cleared the codes, and they came back a few days later.
as I think, I said above, I ordered the parts recently, and cleared the codes again about 1.5 weeks ago…
my codes have actually not popped back up, and the parts should arrive tomorrow.

I have driven a few hundred miles and I think two fill up’s since then.

I may try and pull a few illegal mods off and get my truck Smogged real quick while it’s cooperating !

I have at best 50% faith that these codes will stay gone. Not returning my parts yet
