Stock is the only size to gaurentee no problems. But most can get away with a 265/70r17 or a 255/80r17 with little to no trimming or removal of mud flaps

Welcome aboard, beautiful Taco you got there! .

265/70r17 is the max size I kept hearing when I was asking the same question, so that's what I had the dealer install.

And I think they look great on the sport's stock rims.

265 75 16 is the sweet spot for a Taco.

Unless you are only crawling at the mall...

    :crapstorm:

Is going to the mall still a thing??

    Nice looking rig man.
Do you know the wheel size it came with? Toyota dealerships sometimes swap stock wheels.
Wheel diameter and width dictate what tire sizes can mount on it based on tire manufacturer specs.
The wheel offset/backspace goes to how much the wheel center point is inside or outside of dead center.

The 2020 Sport came stock with 17 inch wheels and 265/65/17s.

Good vid on barely clearing 33" diameter tires on stock wheels with no lift is on youtube @snailtrail4x4.

In it, the wider than stock 265 width tires rubs upper control arms at full turn. This is why skinny 255 width tires on stock wheels clear it.
Later you see that spacing out the wheel too far (equivalent of negating offset), increases the turn scrub radius too much to where the tire edges start rubbing the front and back of wheel-well, which is another reason skinny 255 width tires clear easier than 285 or 305 width.
They eventually use a 3/4" spacer, which is still a slight positive offset effectively.
Things start getting tight everywhere when moving above a 32"D and 11"W tire.

For me and many others on 3rd gens, cutting, trimming and even a bmc, was done even before we bought our 33" tires. Adjustable UCAs can certainly help with fitment spacial adjustment but it is still a tight stock body and frame window for full articulation. Every mm counts.

It makes it read about right.

Most stock tires on these trucks will read about 3 miles under what your actually going.

Stock (OEM) for the (Gen3) 2020 TRD Sport is – 265/65R17 on stock 7.5Jx17 wheels.
Optional OEM is 7.5Jx18 - 265/60R18 on stock 7.5Jx18 wheels. So 18 inchers are no problem.
You will have no problems with this setup as it is the what Toyota puts on their Tacomas.

    @Junkhead

I would love to go to 285/70/17 with a 2" TRD Lift.

Buuuutttttt.....we have to consider another factor...

I'm getting ready for a set of tires. When I bought my 2018 SR5 it came with 245/75R16. I really liked the 2018 Sport wheels and found a take off set and put 265/65/17 tires on them. I think I'll go 265/70/17 on my next set since everything I've read on here says it will work without doing shit to the truck.

Wish the wheels would have been 16". Tires just look better on 16 over 17" wheels IMHO.

The question was "without making no modifications", so the answer clearly is 37's.
