Went to walmart today, and like I do swung through the Lego aisle to see if anything caught my eye. I glanced down and saw a polybag Perseverance rover! I didn't know they made a small version, and I've been really wanting the large version but haven't been able to justify it, so small version it is. Built it tonight, which then prompted my 7mo pregnant wife to ask if that was the "dark and cold" robot and she immediately started tearing up remembering it's final (paraphrased and stylized) transmission of "my battery is low and it's getting dark."

    Mistakes were made.

Tried to cheer her up by saying no no, this is the helicopter launching robot and it's still going very well, its pooping out lots of sample collections, yadda yadda. Didn't go well for me.

RIP Opportunity Rover, long live Percy.

Started on bag #3 of this Secret Santa gift I got for Christmas.

First time experience of finding out it's missing 2 pieces. Contacted Lego but now on hold until the parts arrive. Can't really complain though after having built several kits the past few years and this is the first time I've run into this.

Just thought I'd post this here, I've owned this for over 20 years as I acquired it when I ran the R Zone section at Toys R Us

    20240114_192645.jpg

It's got some bad scratches and all and it's really dirty

Need to remove the adhesive it's got on top too

I'll display it whenever I figure out where I want it in our kids room

Finished Gringott’s Wizarding Bank finally. 2’6” tall approximately. Some pics:

The vaults, including the waterfall Thief’s Downfall, and lower you can see where the dragon broke free, an incomplete feeding schedule and a skull. Belatrix Lestrange and Harry Potter’s vault is here along with track and a cart.
    IMG_1561.jpg

Bank interior. There were hidden details in the walls, kinda cool.
    IMG_1562.jpg

    IMG_1568.jpg

Bank exterior, didn’t like the way the stickers for the sign lined up. Such a cool set but that was kinda half ass.

    IMG_1563.jpg

    Dragon on the roof.

    IMG_1564.jpg

    Completed.

    IMG_1565.jpg

This was a GWP in September 2023 and actually connects to the end of the track. It’ll be the next build.

I placed several Bricklink orders around Christmas to build my latest ship. All but one arrived fairly quickly. After making it to a distribution center an hour from my house and falling off the face of the earth for two weeks, the final order finally arrived today! Thanks USPS...

Even better: since this build has a deadline, I made a replacement order just to be sure. Two days later, the first resurfaces. Thankfully it's all easily reusable parts.

I’m questioning USPS lately too
Not Lego related but had two Xmas packages start in CA and headed to me. First took a detour to MA and then back to MT. And it was a computer printed label so it wasn’t that the state abbreviation or zip were wrong. Second package came here to the right city even a day before the original estimate delivery date. Then they send it to a town further east that only has a tiny PO. Then it goes further east again. Sat there for two days and then they sent it back here. Got delivered 4 days late thanks to that detour

Not sure about you guys; I routinely mail via USPS and can get packages to the East Coast within the same week.

Today, my customer finally received their package after it was dropped off for mailing on the 6th.

The carrier? UPS. Destination? New Jersey.

    UPS sucks.

Ok package is shipped, we got freezing temps here so USPS may be delayed a few days.
