thankyou! for now I'm just sticking with the 285 75 16. as much as I would love to go 35s it is my daily and right now I'm getting 16 mpg. I definitely want to regear to 5.29s someday which might do the trick. the lift versus tire size ratio is a bit off but I'm okay with it. however a weird side effect my penis seems to be getting smaller.

I really haven't measured anything. I might do that in the summertime just out of curiosity but I would assume it's similar to factory since these types of kits are made to mimic the factory geometry and all that jargon.

FWIW, I’ve got OME 2” lift and only got 2 1/4” of downtravel. With extended travel shocks I could’ve got another 3/4” or so.

    Curious to see your measurements.

Drop bracket will bend, saw it happen first hand in Moab, even after replacing the DBs, truck was never right. You should have done more research. Good luck with your truck.

so far everything has worked well at least for the sake of daily driving. the only thing is I lost a bolt randomly (see image). once I have the funds I'll upgrade the front coilovers to something more proper but thus far everything is working very well. I've pulled a couple people out of the ditch and I've been pulled out of said ditch twice thus far.

As for the whole bracket bending cracking breaking argument I have literally done all of the research and found nothing except for anecdotal "evidence" from one guy years ago on this same forum who also said it happens but also had zero evidence or testimony of it happening. so either the people that it's happening to aren't online at all or it's exaggerated, either way that's why I went with this kit is because there's very little info out there and I wanted to do it. companies have been making kits like this for ifs trucks for over 20 years I guess I'll figure out if it's worth a fuck or not.

if there's anyone that has actual experience with these kits falling apart I'd like to hear about it but until then I guess I'll see if my truck falls apart for myself.

just an update on my experience with the rough country 4 inch lift among the other mods I've done for anyone interested in a similar suspension setup.

well I've been running this suspension for 6 months or so... overall I've been very happy with it. the coilovers are obviously cheap stuff. the spring rate is too soft so I'm running a spacer to compensate so the front actually sits a hair higher than 4 inches of lift. the front wallows a lot on the interstate over dips and such takes a bit to get used to especially without a sway bar.

I don't do any crazy off-roading or rock crawling necessarily but I do moderate trails 6/10 difficulty tops on ONx offroad and it's performed very well. mostly around northern and western Colorado and a little bit of off-roading in southern Nevada and the Spokane area of Washington. a lot of miles daily driving and road trips. I put on around 35,000 miles a year.

the biggest issue I've had is that my camber was negative and the adjustment on the lower control arms was maxed out. I got a set of SPC upper control arms with the fancy movable ball joints and that cured that so my front end is in spec. I also had to play around with the carrier bearing spacer shims on the rear drive shaft and actually found running no spacers has the least amount of vibration. so I definitely see a one piece drive shaft in my future since there's a little bit of vibration but it's perfectly livable.

what I'd like to do in the future is put in a better set of coilovers with a stiffer spring and go up to 35 in tires. among other things... I ran the factory side steps for a while but I crunched one coming down on a rock so I took them off again lol but I definitely would like a set of rock sliders. definitely would like a regear especially since it's a manual trans. I can only go so slow on the rocky stuff...

other than that it's done very well the clearance has been very convenient at times and I've definitely given the skid plates a workout. I replaced my four-wheel drive actuator recently and had to just about drop the front diff to get it out so I'm curious how servicing other components may interfere with this drop bracket kit. but oil changes regular maintenance stuff has actually been more convenient. I don't have to drop the skid plate to get to my oil filter.

I don't do any high-speed desert stuff with this truck (id like to its fun as hell) I like doing the four low first gear crawley stuff and that's what I've modified it to do and it does just fine.

The ADD unit was a significant oversight by Rough Country. If you remove the two front diff support bracket bolts (and also loosen up the rear mounts) you can pivot the diff housing down just enough to get the ADD out past the crossmember.

Throw some Fox 2.5 DSCs w/650PPI springs on there, along with 35x10.50R17 tires on 4.5" B.S. wheels (4.88 gears if highway is more important, 5.29 if offroad is more important). You might still need a CMC for those tires, but CMCs are pretty well-documented around here. 285/75R17 (34x11.50R17) shouldn't need the CMC if you have the right wheel offset (just have to trim (or heat & reshape) the fender plastic a bit).

Truck looks good, btw! What wheels are those?

That's exactly what I did to get the actuator out! I tried running the OME heavy rate coils but I couldn't get them to compress enough to fit on the RC coilovers. I'll have to look into that... I'm running the black rhino arsenal wheels in 16x8 I forget the offset... I believe it's -10mm. I love the rims but I've already lost one of the fake plastic bolts and chewed up some of them on rocks. They look cool but it's purely aesthetic. I did a CMC a while ago and they still rub some. I'm running 295 75 16 currently with +4 degrees roughly of caster to help but I'll just trim some more in the future. Definitely want to go 5.29 when I do regear... Thanks for the input! I appreciate it

PHOTO DUMP!!! not much has changed in the last few months. replace the lower control arms with OEM. new bushings and ball joints. they were starting to squeak really bad. pulled my old K5 out of the woods after it sat there for 4 years... after it was on fire. told U-Haul I was towing a 1992 Jeep Wrangler YJ lol. went to Nevada did a little bit of off-roading nothing worth photographing just visiting family. just this weekend took my mom out 4byin. some super cool areas around Grand junction where it hasn't snowed yet. aired down to 16 psi.

aaaaaaand replaced my nitto ridge grapplers. they're a great tire very tough but very heavy and they suck ass in snow and ice. got a cheapo set of mud terrains from Walmart 285 75 16 they're 12 lb lighter at each corner. very noticeable on the interstate. really need a re-gear as much as I would like to go to 35s.

I really need to update the suspension. obviously it's rough country but the front coilovers don't have any shock left that I can tell and haven't for a while. The rear is still fine. I need to install limit straps for the front. I tore one of my upper ball joint boots because it contacts the coil at full droop. just recently ordered a full metal rear bumper with recovery points since my factory rear bumper is pretty trashed... garbage plastic... :burp: nothin fancy no tire swing out or anything but it was a good price and it matches the factory bumper cosmetically speaking.

    it goes on...

Every time I see someone posting pics from Colorado just makes me want to plan a trip and spend like two weeks out there. Very pretty countryside out there. And to think (according to all the naysayers on here) your lift should've broke off the very moment you set a tire on dirt (forget about a year later).
It's nice not having to drag your undercarriage over every big pebble.
    :)
I guess you're not running the droop-travel stops that came with your RC kit?

FOR SURE! definitely spoiled out here with all of the mountain roads and old mining roads. :D only problem is they'll be snowed in until June or July.

I'm very happy with it. The front diff skid is definitely low hanging fruit... and I've definitely bashed it at least a dozen times since I've had the kit on. All I can say is it works.

The droop stops worked great when I was running JBA upper arms but now I'm running SPC and they don't contact the stop. SPC arms are thinner while JBA are tubular. TOTALLY TUBULAR lol. I've never welded either so I'll have to bribe my buddy to weld on limit strips for me. I ghetto fabulously modified the droop stops so they... kinda work in the meantime. :welder::sawzall:

Definitely should get yourself a welder if you're gonna be modding vehicles... That was one of my best investments (a MIG that uses argon/CO2 gas is usually best for steel and is easy to learn on). So many things that become possible when you can stick pieces of metal together.

What's the story with the K5? Engine fire? Forest fire? Something else?
