You’re gonna need some “bar work” (as the australians would say) to protect the panels. It’ll help to keep twigs and junk from getting jammed up everywhere, and helps keep trees/rocks away. Just bend and weld some tube from your sliders to your steel bumper, easy peasy. Oh wait…..;):D

No, no. I jest. “The Rig” (well earned title) is fine as wine, as- is. It’s good to appreciate what we have and not be chasing the next thing.

Speaking of which, I’m pretty much done appreciating my little Jackery battery. Anybody have any thoughts on what the state of the art is with solar generator batteries? Kinda want something I can justify as a back-up solar generator for the house, but just as easily use for the 4runner to run a potential fridge.

I got some wool wax on accident on my rear coil spring seats on my 4runner. It did not like it. Started to squeak. It holds on to grit and grime. Just mentioning it because I would imagine there’s potential for the same with the leafs, since they’re all rubbing up against each other.

I’ve seen some dry graphite sprays, has anyone tried that to keep leaf springs happy?

People will argue calibers like people here fight over tire sizes lol

at the end of the day all that really matters is what you’ve got with you and what you can be proficient with under stress. Theres no one right answer and whatever caliber is easy to be accurate, handle recoil, holster, etc for you is going to be far more useful than whatever has the most “stopping power”

a .22 in your pocket is far more useful than a desert eagle sitting at home on the nightstand when you need it

As has been mentioned here, my “panels” are made of plate steel (in back) so not sure they need much protection. Built the tray so the truck would bounce if an Ent jumped out…. So far so good!

Yep. Long ago, I gave up arguing about caliber choices. Should the unthinkable ever happen, you may live or die with that choice.

I don’t look into the all-in-one battery bank thingies much, but I do watch a YouTube channel “DIY Solar Power with Will Prowse”. He has tested a bunch of them and even does things like testing charging his Tesla and running a lift off of some of the big ones. Bluetti seems to be one of the current good options, may want to check those out.
Yep I spray my leafs with Woolwax too. At least my Deavers don’t seem to squeak much from junk between the leafs but it doesn’t hurt. More squeaks come from my bushings than anything.

This right here. If you’ve practiced and put enough rounds down range, caliber doesn’t matter as much. And if you’re sweating caliber than buy a cheap 12 gauge and lean it next to your bed because that’ll stop any doubts quickly. I sleep soundly with my 9mm.

    So. Many. Stickers.
Turns out it's not illegal to own a Canon in this country, it's not illegal to own a trailerable Canon in this country, and since the ammunition is variable but not explosive in nature, it's not illegal to own said ammunition, and if you're familiar with reloading, you can also pack Cannon wads... I'm just saying.

It's not like we all drive Toyota's or anything...

And all we're getting now is a windchill warning for -25.

Dry graphite will get wet with humidity and water crossings. Completely coat your leaves and get them between them if you can with wool wax or fluid film. I find it's best if you can get the truck frame lifted and let the suspension hang down a bit.

My buddy has an S&W .40 that he says he hates the shoe but I freaking love. He won't sell it to me though.

As far as spraying suspension, when I do my frames, I also coat the squeaky suspension bits. Despite the off-road truck looking like a battle worn hunk of tin, it's deadly quiet.

A 12 with some 5 or 7 loads is a pretty high percentage shot. All you gotta do is point in the right general direction lol

I know you mentioned building an EXO cage around the rest of the body. This series of videos might provide some inspiration for that kind of "bar work"

    There is a mag in.
The one you see in the mount is an extended mag. Without the extended mag your pinky finger is off the grip.
