So I’m not seeing as much detail on the Toyota build configurator as I’d like to see within the SR trim…

So it appears like not all SR’s have the steel wheels and towing package. I want the manual trans, which automatically requires 4wd? I’m indifferent about the leaf springs. Heck, it’s a truck. My dealer has a manual SR 4wd allocation coming in and it has 17 inch alloy wheels (looks like sr5 wheel design) and towing package as standard. Only options are all weather mats and deck rail/cleats and mud guards. Sticker is around 38,7XX. 2023 SR V6 4wd is about 37k, so not that much of price difference. Does anyone know if the 24 has brake controller included with towing package or is that an option? The manual trans is the only way to get the high hp motor in SR trim. Very weird why Toyota has done this…

I have owned several Toyota trucks and am looking forward to a midsize truck that should handle 4k towing duties with better ease. Really wish the old 4.0 was still around but this turbo 4 should do even better.

I would recommend studying the specifications .pdf at https://pressroom.toyota.com/vehicle/2024-toyota-tacoma/

Looks like it answers most of your questions.

Thanks. That link was helpful. It does appear like all SR manuals only come in 4wd, double cab, and Toyota includes the SR5 17 inch aluminum wheel as standard. The manual doesn’t save money like it did on the 3rd gen.

I think I’m going to take the truck linked above. They also have an Bronze OR manual allocated but it’s 51k and and doesn’t even have Soft-Tex, which is way overpriced imo. Out of 12 allocations, 2 are manual trans. I’m surprised because this dealer rarely got 3rd gen manual allocations.

I think the 24 SR trim has a dutuned engine and a 3500 tow rating. I am not sure.

I do not see that called out in the specs.

The automatic SR does get the lower output engine, something like 228HP - 243TQ.

Correct. ONLY the manual SR gets the big tow rating with standard hitch and higher output engine. Plus it apparently comes standard with the alloy SR5 wheels. For those that wanna stay in the 30k range and row your own gears, it’s THE truck to buy.

The 6MT is the same specs for the SR. The 8AT is lower power.

FYI Jef - I don’t think our friends across the border in Canada even have the SR option…

Wouldn’t be surprised if the 24 SR Tacoma does not come with brake controller. As the 22+ Tundra SR with tow pack does not. It is only a hitch and pin plugs. On SR5 and up trims, brake control is included
