I climbed Kilimanjaro last month and then went on a safari in one of those LCs. Great safari rig. Not so good around town. Definitely not a daily driver if you are used to driving anything made in the last 25 years.

    It would!

I like this barebones tray camper from Australia. Easy access from the sides, not a lot of bullshit. Simple.

GFC already has a thread, at least for the wedge campers. The 4Gs extra payload will certainly handle a slide-in better. All the slide-ins on the 3rd Gens are way overloaded.

Have you looked into importing one of these? Seems like a perfect for for you. Curious what hoops you have to jump through to get one.

I have, but there is the 25 year import law. Have an AZ buddy who moved to New Zealand, whose wife’s family are ranchers in Australia. We were going to get into the import business, deemed it too much of a hassle. The last aircooled VW I had, sold it do a dealer/restorer in the Netherlands, it was a pain in the ass. Profit was decent, but not worth the trouble at the end of the day. Plenty of other ways to make money.

I don’t think you can until it’s 25 years old.

Yep, they are all roached out, need a bunch of work. Finding a clean one is nearly impossible, and I have contacts in New Zealand and Australia.

Towing package is not available on the SR, so doubtful. Payload will be limited to the leafs and so far it looks like the Coils have had the higher payload rating.

I will wait to see an actual production truck before I get too wrapped up in it though.

Lol, my '17 was also 32k and has been paid off for years. I am having a hard time justifying a truck payment at all as the 4th gen is very meh at this point.

I'm sure the 4th gen is better in every way than my 3rd gen, but paid off is paid off and that is hard to top.
