I agree the remaining bits of the taillight look a bit oddly prominent, who knows what has happened over the last almost 70 years.

Agreed! well done @RustyGreen I got as far as mid 50's fords that had models with the reverse indicators up in the fin. '53 T-bird was close but sleeker than this car.

There is one old car that i've been meaning to get back to on a very young plantation north of Forks near lake Ozette. The felling equipment wasn't kind to it when I planted the stand 10 years ago but it has door hinges like mine despite being a different body size. I think I may need the lower drivers hinge. It's got an emblem too but one model year earlier than what I need. I'm thinking getting up there before they sell the property, see if I can find it in 10 year old reprod based on my memory, get the hinges (if they're ok), sell the emblem and last but not least..... try to stump RustyGreen!!!!

if I ever get that far I will refer to this post as the only hints.

Out in the AZ Desert, you will occasionally come across rocks where the desert patina (the naturally occurring black varnish / oxidation of hundreds of years of sun) was chipped off to make a watering hole marker. This is out in the Tonto National Forest north of Elephant Mountain and west of the 1842 Corral. I can't imagine how thirsty someone had to be to sit there and make this. Must have taken a few days or nights by the camp fire. But then again, without cell phones back in the 1800's, entertainment was hard to come by so maybe this was the most exciting thing they did all week.

This one reminds me of a place we used to go out near Huntsville TX in the Sam Houston National Forest.

It had one time been a church out there in the 1800's. The church was abandoned and vegetation had started to grow up around it. Eventually the church structure collapsed in and it left the stone steps and a ring of trees growing around the perimeter of where the church once stood. It was a pretty cool place to see.

In may case, there was an old cabin across the stream and in the woods from my junior high school. One day there was lots of smoke. Cabin burnt down and all was left was the chimney and a foundation. We missed the old cabin:facepalm:

Brown spot needle blight. One of my last research installations was to help identify silvicultural Rx to reduce this fungus in loblolly pine plantations in Alabama. These were collected in eastern Louisiana however. Bad infections resemble ips beetle damage but trees rarely die. The foliage is severely reduced (bottle brushed) and growth is very limited.

While out for a few days wandering up and down FSRs, I found a good spot to test fire an expired bear spray canister.

That evening I pulled into a camp site, did a quick walk around, and found ... you guessed it, a brand new bear spray canister with a few years before expiry.

Had the owner returned, I'd have gladly handed it over but after a day it was fair game.

I've lost a few things in the past too, and I can only hope that the new owners are still getting some good use out of the stuff.
