Thanks. It was kind of a family project that my son originally took on but it proved to be a bit more of a challenge financially than he could handle when he went to university so I bought it from him and basically did a complete pan off restoration. Took about 7 years.

 

I have a 63 that’s been sitting in my garage for almost 20 years now. Was going to restore it but always said it will be my retirement project. As time went by… kids, college, home repair, other bills I now say it’s definitely a retirement project.

 

Last time it saw light of day. Pushed it outside out of the way for some work being done inside the garage. Around 2014

 

I had an oval when I was 17 that I tried to finish as a project but I couldn’t pull it off and ended up selling it. So when my son went to university I told my wife “let’s buy the bug from him and we’ll put a couple grand in it and have a toy”. A couple grand? I was an idiot. By the time I got it on the road I had $20k in it and I did all the work myself with my son. But it was a great experience to have finished and it will be a family heirloom. Good luck with yours. Makes me feel good every time I see another one saved.

Oh ya. I sold it 40 years ago but man I wish I had it today

We used to see those temps when we first moved up here 20 years ago. Now, it's a struggle to get to -5 if we're lucky....(Yes, I said lucky, I like the cold!!)

 

Was originally building a 1776 but then changed direction and was going to do a big 2387 to take to New England drag way (10 minutes from my house ) but changed direction again. 1914 is not out of the question.
