I have a video on YT of what my blower sounded like when it needed replacement.

    https://youtube.com/shorts/gIVzUCI0lZQ?si=ff_DKGv2_vCKIqCl

It got a full service from SCOL, including a new rotor pack (from what I understood). It sounded like @IowaToyotas . Mine was bought used with unknown miles but looked to be a stock sc with no mods.

mine sounded way better after the rebuild. Some of the noises were still there, but much quieter, almost nonexistent.
The gravely noise from the back of the rotor, pretty much disappeared, while the rhythmic whiny noise near the nose stayed.
I put a solid coupler and 2.8” pulley on at that time.

Copy, yes I did and there was zero play, very smooth. It was rebuilt 20k ago, the rotor pack sounds slightly louder then I remember and that front bearing noise sounds about the same

Thanks for sharing, yah I'm at a cross roads right now, I'm still trying to get the company that rebuilt it to own up to their either poor craftmanship or parts. I probably am out of luck but don't hurt trying.

Brothers in Boost, looking for some input on the state of my spark plugs.
Have around 30k mi on Rutheniums. Cylinder 2 does not look good, light deposits on one side, heavy on the other, mostly white. All others appear as expected, with some minor differences among them.
Research points to leaking valve guide seal. Very little reports of this occurring on the 1grfe. Not sure if common. Could this also be a bad injector?
Truck has +210k mi, S/C for last ~70k mi. Had started to consume oil ~2 years ago. Only small leaks on block. Compression test showed very good health, well within spec.

Maybe open up the valve covers and see how #2 cyl valves are looking. Good compression is a good sign. All things considered, valve guide seal replacement is not the worst job in the world.

Get a camera down there and look at edge of piston, if one side is clean with carbon on the rest of the piston, could be oil wash from the rings. Only thing you could look at without pulling the head.

I just bolted the valve cover back on. I did not see anything obvious. But did not inspect that deep.

Don't the heads need to be removed to replace those seals? Is it possible to not remove the cams, just deal with the chains? Going down the spiral of what else I would change while in there.

The only time I’ve done mine was with the heads off (one of those while you’re in there), but I’m no expert. They do sit on top of the head. I would imagine there would be more debris from combustion if one of them was bad (around the bucket maybe?). I think a bad valve seal was what was speculated went bad when one of the guys on here dropped a valve and ended up with a new engine project.

I had to do valve guide seals on my truck when i put the supper charger on it at 152k. I was about 1 quart per 1000-1100 miles. All I had to do was add oil, and never have to change it. kidding, i still changed it every 5k.

Just read through most of your rebuild experience.
How did you do the valve guide seals, which ones and from where did you purchase. I have seen some mention of a rope method for swapping seals with heads on, not sure if that works for our motor.

They make a kit to do it in the car. you will use a leak down tester to add air pressure to the cylinder to hold the valve closed when you remove the valve spring. I posted the tool I have her before. IF you cant find it I look for the link.
