If I were to buy another midsize right now, it would be a tough choice considering all the new options. I configured a few different options and for the money I kind of like what the Ranger gives you for the money. It will be interesting to see how people like it (people in US) once there are more of them on the road. (applies to the Tacoma as well)

The Q4 sales could be interpreted many ways. First, I think there are few people who had to buy a new truck in Q4 vs wanted too. If you’re going to spend $40-50K you want buy what you want not just what’s on the lot.
Colorado buyers knowing the 24 price increase was only $300 may have decided to wait.
Tacoma buyers, seeing the 24 price increase may have to buy now rather than pay more later.
People using “lifestyle” truck as a negative gets me. If your lifestyle involves spending a lot of time in your truck/enjoying your “lifestyle” why wouldn’t you want a nicer truck to do that in?

I didn't use it as a negative other than the fact that when marketed as such, it allows more latitude to price things higher than they should probably be due to the perception of the product.

As an example take identical trucks, market one as a lifestyle truck, market the other as a work truck, paint one white with plain wheels pain the other red or green with matching wheels etc. Which one can you get away with pricing a little higher...I vote the red or green one. (this is extreme example to show what I am referring to).

It's a brilliant strategy as long as it works and the market continues to allow it. And it keeps me in a job as well...lol.

    Perceived value is very profitable..

You think it’s $10K more to go from a midsize to full size? Are you nuts? Go build a Tacoma TRD Off-road with one of the higher option packages and an SR5 Tundra with one of the higher TRD off-road packages added. The price is only a couple thousand more. You can also probably get a few thousand off the Tundra so it may actually be cheaper then the Tacoma.

If your lifestyle is spending a lot of times outdoors getting dirty, too nice gets ruined real quick. Lux interiors have no business if you’re really going to use it as intended.

When I first bought my SR, found myself changing my clothes from what I was doing not to screw it up, working in the yard, doing house projects, running chainsaws all day clearing dirt bike trails, or helping the Forest Service with projects. You get filthy. Vinyl seats and rubber floors can handle use and abuse far better.

Our old work trucks we would hose out when they got too nasty. Can’t do that with today’s vehicles, and that is disappointing.

I think you can still get a Ford (F150 and Ranger) with vinyl floors and seats

The term “lifestyle vehicle” is dumb. If you are a frugal person and just want a vehicle to get you from point A to B then a base model Civic may be your perfect “lifestyle vehicle”.

You can, why they are the list. I am usually covered in grime doing my “lifestyle”

We basically do trail maintenance most of the summer and into the fall, always covered with saw dust, bar oil, mud and blood.

Last thing with the FS was a fencing project to deter wildcat trails. It was pouring rain most of the day, after humping fencing and running the auger most of the day. Was soaked to the bone and muddy, why I do not like lux interiors I will screw them up.

My truck is the 3rd one in from the right. Was coming back from a camping trip, so had extra clothes with me, changed into fresh stuff not to screw up my cloth seats on the ride home.

I think a Taco full premium has ventilated seats (and probably more options) than a a full premium Tundra. Maybe not 10K difference but more than a few K.

That crazy, it wasn’t too long ago you could get a F150 RC 4WD in the low 30s USD.

What are you talking? $4K? That’s quite a bit less than $10K isn’t it? If you can then get $2-3K off MSRP it’s a better deal.

I don't know if that was with tax..if it was tax included..that would put the price around 55k CDN before tax.

Canada is always a bit more than here in the US, but still…did a super quick build on the Ford site, most basic F150 with no options other than 4WD. Cheap basic truck doesn’t exist anymore.

The prices are close, but the feature sets at those levels aren’t. Not quite apples to apples.

To get a comparable feature set, full size trucks cost more.
