Probably mentioned before and I’m sorry.

Thinking of swapping out my existing shocks on my taco for a progressive set.
I have tried 5100 on my FJ but am not satisfied with it offroad mainly washboards and slow speed rock crawling (nothing extreme)

Having tried 5100 that is digressive, what are other options out there for progressives?

    OME Nitro Shock Sport?
    Fox 2.0 / 2.1?
Kings sound nice but they demand a kings ransom and constant tribute to maintenance.

    Thoughts? Recommendations?

Dobinson IMS is progressive and is one of my fav non Res. shocks.

Bilstein 6112 are still digressive but have looser valving that makes them ride nicer compared to 5100s.

I have never been overly impressed with fox 2.0 (Linear Valving BTW)

Kings, maintenance is just part of owning high performance coilovers.

    Just sharing, no advice here.

Wash board is a bitch, I imagine fast shocks or kings handle it amazing, but a light rear end is a big problem with the tacoma.

I find when I have 200lbs or more it smooths it out, but unloaded it just walks all over the damn place.

High end shocks aren't my territory, but if you have a proper high speed shock, it will have more control but it won't feel smooth like floating over is what I gather?

The new TRD Pro tundra feels like this, not smooth but not harsh over uneven terrain at speed.

My sister has fox but highway tires, I tried to run it hard but the tires kept letting go :frusty:

Depends on how you use them. Daily driver, crawler, or race truck.
I got 30K on mine and plan on rebuilding them this year. Seals are still good, but could use an oil refresh, so since I will be tearing them down, might as well replace the seals and anything else they might need. Kings rock, truck rides like a dream.

There isn't any kind of extra maintenance outside of the need to rebuild? Your 2nd get looks amazing by the way! Super clean.

Maybe a slight adjustment of the Coilspring when they are first new. Other than that, they are super flexy and you will definitely see a difference in ride and dampening.

Just clean them. I wipe down the rear shocks with LPS 2 to keep corrosion at bay. For the spherical bearings I spray them with LPS 2, blow out the area with compressed air and wipe clean, then spray with Tri Flow and let that stay. Keep that area clean and the bearings will last, depending how much you abuse them. I just did a 35K oil change with the Buna O-ring kit and wear bands and everything was in great condition. Bearings are tight like new, so I didn't swap those.
