I wouldn’t add smoke, but if you feel like being punched firmly in the face with a campfire I can 100% recommend High West Campfire…. If you see a bottle buy it. It’s literally a bottled campfire.

I generally like Wilderness Trail, I was excited to try this one. I usually don't judge a bottle by its neck, but this is utterly disappointing. It has an interesting front, but the back end comes off with an overbearing rubbing alcohol taste. It's extremely harsh for the proof. I'll let it sit for a few weeks and reevaluate, but I'm not expecting much change. IMG_0121.jpg

Aw man I wish I coulda saved you the purchase. I cracked a rye sometime last year after thoroughly enjoying their standard and wheated bourbons. It was the single worst pour I’ve ever had. Tastes like astringent pine.

No worries. The sad part is I almost bought an Alberta Cask Strength Rye for $8 more, and I really love that pour.

You know, this reminds me that when I had that pour, it was the one and only time I thought about contacting the distillery to get my money back. I may do that this week.

I'm a big time EC fan boy but I don't see the huge hype around toasted barrel. Maybe I'm missing something

Apologies for the oversight. I would never discard good whiskey; I'm curious about why it's allocated or highly sought after.

When it first came out it was pretty limited. It's one of my go to bottles. It was once hard to find but HH pumps out a lot of it now and it's everywhere for MSRP

I appreciate the explanation. It is a very good bourbon, easy to drink. I just didn't understand why it was allocated, and I've seen it sold on the secondary market.

Thank you for the suggestion! Unfortunately I tried the High West Campfire and was really disappointed with it. For me I couldn’t get past the similarities it had to cough syrup. Not necessarily the initial taste but more of the mouth feel and after taste. I was highly disappointed because I had been looking for a bottle in my local area for a while and finally found one. I definitely bought into the hype of online reviews and probably had a larger let down because of it.

I see a lot of Smoke Wagon’s products posted on this thread but I’m not sure I’ve seen one in the wild yet. Would you recommend it straight or cold smoked?

    Anyone tried Traveller Whiskey Blend?

A friend manages a store and said he is getting a case later this week. I don’t know much about it other than it’s new from BT. The reviews look good but curious what others think.

Blended low proof BT with Stapleton's named slapped on it. Another celebrity endorsed cash grab.

I've never had it "cold smoked", but I like it straight. I think it would be interesting to try it straight and then cold smoked to see how it changes.

I just heard of it this morning when I watched this review of it. I'll probably pick up a bottle if I see it for MSRP or less. But I'm not going to chase it.

I’ll reiterate it’s like getting punched firmly in the face by a campfire. I don’t love it either. Though I’ve grown to enjoy it a lot more since my first try. I’ve got about two pours left but U have to be in the right mood for it.

if you haven’t tried it I bought a bottle of this years Midwinters nights dram. That I can recommend it’s delicious!!!!
